The Saints have never won a play off game on the road. When Marino broke the passing record, his season ended in a loss to the 49ers. History has a habit of repeating itself. |

And if Mark Sanchez and Joe Flacco can make it to the AFC Championship game... any argument about Alex Smith is invalid. He's thrown 5 interceptions all season. If the Lions defense could catch, Brees would have done that in one game. |

He has been clutch this year leading 4th quarter drives to win games 5 times, 4 on the road. Joe Montana didn't have gaudy passing numbers either, but he was clutch and that's all that mattered. I'm not saying Alex is Montana by any means, but people judge players by fantasy stats these days and not with their eyes. He makes plays when he needs to and he doesn't lose the game. That's all the Niners need out of him. |

But yes. All Alex Smith does is manages a game. Like Trent Dilfer, he will only get to a Super Bowl bc of the real players around his team. At least this we can agree on. It's not hard to hand a ball off 30 times a game and run a total of 50 plays is it? Harbaugh taught him very well...this is all I have to work with so let's give him the easiest reads possible and the safest plays bc I can't trust he can win a game but we've seen for 6 years he can lose it. I'd rather stick with #9 who has the ability to win the game for us... if for some reason our defense actually shows up this time...and stops Gore for maybe 65-70 yards. It's gonna be bad. Akers better get his shoes tied like in the Eagles days bc he'll be kicking a lot of 40+ yarders in that game. Seattle last year meant nothing to the offense...if you score 33, you should win right? Unless your D gives up 40...but who knows. Maybe an '09 caliber D will show up this week...or a first half Lions game version. Have to wait till Sat to find out what the hell Greg Williams is thinking |

Too bad Brady cut his hair this year. Next week could have been billed the Jesus vs Jesus game.

Re: NFL Football Thread
Wow. Tebow balled out. Stings a little on the face to lose that game.
Steelers looked flat all game and Harrison couldn't stop the option. You always hit the qb in the option, even if he doesn't have the ball. It wears him out after a while... Serviceman, better hope Tom puts up 40 cause that horrible D you have can't stop anyone. Robby, I'll keep talking and you keep predicting ;) Dem Saints commin' haha |

In case you forgot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obHhsNhvW0g I know Brees came back and set up a FG to win, but Alex did his part and the comparison to Trent Dilfer is an absolute insult. The guy has been clutch all year when they needed him to be. |

As good as the Niners defense is, they play a lot better at home. Take out the Cowboys game where 3/4 of the secondary was inactive (not too mention being robbed of a fumble the forced in the red zone) and they allowed an average of 8.5 points/game at home. I know it's hard to fathom, but I don't see the Saints scoring more than 24 points. I expect them to score early though. The Niners for whatever reason play vanilla on the first drive and make adjustments soon there after. It makes me nervous every week. |
Re: NFL Football Thread
Dilfer was so bad that I don't see how he became an analyst. He's the Tim McCarver of the NFL...just a bunch of senseless babble.

Re: NFL Football Thread
