Re: Power gained per modification.

I have an 03 Mach 1.

I have:

4.10 gears
BBK CAI
Magnaflow Cat Back System w/ h-pipe
Predator custom tune

what am I getting approximately for each RWHP

Why is everyone writing down different stock #'s.

I thought stock on a Mach 1 is 305 HP to the fly amd you take about 15% off for the RWHP which would make it about 260 RWHP stock. Please explain this to me.

Re: Power gained per modification.

Dyno's differ, and the correction factors for the elevation, temp. and humidity play a big part in high and low numbers. My tuner has told me that he can "make" my car show what ever numbers I it want to have. By changing the weather factors and conditions in the computer your numbers could be way high or too low. I call crap on most people who say that they have over 300hp to the wheels with just a drop in, mid pipe and catback. Just read one post that said 341hp and 359tq with just basic bolt ons?????? Don't think so! Just my opinion.

I would say that you are probably around 280ish.

all though these engines are the same, every engine is just a little bit different. if that makes any sense

Re: Power gained per modification.

after very minimal review it seems like these cars are very restricted on exhaust flow, for all you guys that got an increase in HP by not doing anything but adding miles, you think it can be a less restrictive cat? In other words a new cat with miles on it becomes old and worn out giving you more exhaust flow?

Re: Power gained per modification.

Wouldn't know, replaced my Xpipe too early. I also did the Cat-back and intake too early to know if there woudl be any improvement just running the car. I know there was an improvement in performance, but that was because I learned to drive the car.

Sorry, no dyno numbers for my car. After the next round of mods, which are happening in the next month, I will have dyno numbers because it is getting dyno tuned.

So far:
Magnaflow Catted X
Magnaflow Cat Back
K&N FIPK
Short throw shifter (while it does not help with dyno numbers it certainly helps with your performance WHERE IT COUNTS!)

Too come:
4:10 Gears
Tune
New Plugs
and maybe the Intake Spacer

Re: Power gained per modification.

Ok guys tell me your experience and wisdom here. What if any chip would you add to a stock M1 (soon to have off-road x pipe) to optimize power? Is there one available that you can switch between economy and power?

Thx:COOL:

#'s below. This is tuned at svt dealer who also is the preadator tuner/dealer.

Re: Power gained per modification.

After reading all these post I'm super happy with my dyno numbers.

With welded in magnapacks, and a drop in filter.

289/308

Just added my JLT kit so I'm hoping I can get closer to the 300 area!!

Re: Power gained per modification.

There is a video on streetfire.com of a Mach 1 with just a drop in K&N filter and a prochamber making 305rwhp now that is awseome.

Anyone think they could possibly ball park my hp/trq? I really want to get into a dyno shop, just havent had time yet.

I'll take a stab: 295/310 wheel with those mods. But for reals, unless you have emmissions concerns, I'd go O/R on that exhaust. Wakes 'em up!

:frown: :bs: NO EXCUSES!!! :headbang: :SMASH: get over to the dyno and get it on there!!! :D

I JUST ran mine on the dyno today, about four hours ago. Stone cold stock.

Run 1: 90 degrees, 49.98% humidity and 30.08 in Hg
276.10 rwhp at 5,700
272.38 rwtq at 4,300
A/F was a little fat, running from 14.18 at 3G's to 12.04 at peak torque and 12.27 at peak HP to 11.84 at 6,400

Run 2: 88 degrees (?), 49.91% humidity and 30.08 in Hg
277.71 rwhp at 5,600
295.57 rwtq at 4,500 (somebody explain THAT to me!)
A/F was still a little fat, running from 14.00 at 3,000 to 11.93 at peak torque and 12.32 at peak HP to 11.71 at 6,300

So in round numbers, 278/296 at the wheel on a hot, humid day. All in all, I'm well pleased with these numbers as a baseline.

groundpounder 06-19-2007 09:31 AM

Re: Power gained per modification.

In retrospect, those A/F numbers are not ALL that fat, but the whole A/F curve spent a LOT of time over 14.00 - just some thoughts to share, because I KNOW all of you are deeply pondering my numbers. :eyebrows: :12:

Some are definately stronger than others straight from the factory, mine put down 306 rwhp and 329 rwtq with only an o/r x-pipe and a tune, everything else stock.

Re: Power gained per modification.

Thanks groundpounder, I appreciate it. Nice numbers by the way. I dont have emissions where i live, so i will definitley look into taking off those cats.

Re: Power gained per modification.

I only have 2 mods on my mach. JLT CAI and muffler cut out. At 87 degrees and high humidity i pulled these dyno numbers:
Rwhp 292 at 5900 RPM's
torque 307 at 4300 RPM's
a diagnostic read indicated lazy spark.hope to get at a least 20hp bump with a predator chip.however, just bought some ford 3.73 gears for $75.wanna get some better track numbers first.

first & only time at track best numbers were (97degrees/high humidity):
best time-13.87
best mph-104.5
