If that's the case. Congratulations Jr. fans!!!!!!!!! LOL He gets away with quite a bit.

Why the heck would they even care about the inner fenders. I guess your right, that is a lot of b/s. What next, the bottom of the hood has to be a certain color. LOL I do believe the whole idea with this new car wasn't so much for the money but for the safety and the attempt to make it more of a "driver's" race rather then depending on Aero, Hence the excess drag on the cars. Maybe that will help out in this whole restrictor plate thing in the future. I know they made the inside of the car bigger and moved the driver more towards the center of the car making it safer for them.( I can't remember how many inches at this time),

Also that b/s that NASCAR gave everyone about it being cheaper to produce is a bunch of crap. The engineer said the have like 30k templates which include; the inner fender wells (as a rediculous example). Talk about not being able to get ahead. You wont be able to do anything to give your car an advantage.
Sorry for the rant but Nascar is making me lose intrest by the second and I used to watch it religously.

In my opinion; You know who is going to win the NEXTEL CUP this year; Whom ever NASCAR wants to win it.

:yeh:

I don't get the whole car of tomorrow thing. They want everyone to run the same kind of car so that it's the driver that makes the difference? Isn't that called IROC?

I have pretty much stopped watching NASCAR...shame really because I used to be a huge fan, but I simply don't enjoy it anymore.

Wouldn't that be something if Burton wins Dega. Or even the championship this year. He is on the right track so far. Who would have thought he would have even been in the chase let alone have the points lead when the season started.

Mine were tears of Joy. JJ did not win. Lately I am pulling for anyone except JJ and Robby Gordon.

Do you think RH has the balls to can Vickers after he wins????????????

I think Vickers will be OK, it wasn't anything he could change. If you get out of the gas you're going to the back. He almost got passed prior to the caution because of how much the contact slowed him up.

I like first time winners. :yeh:

Loved the last lap at 'Dega. Couldn't happen to nicer guys. Kensith moved to second only a few points behind Burton and Mark hangs just behind in third in points. :borg:

I think it's kinda obvious that Vickers didin't intentionally do that but hey, that's racing. Everyone makes mistakes. Just think though, everytime he looks at that trophy, he will remember how he won it. By the way I heard today that Goodwrench is leaving as a the #29 sponsor. I think it is going to be Shell Gas stations and something else if I heard it right. I'm not a Harvick fan but I thought this was kind of interesting because Goodwrench has been part of this sport for quite some time now.

He just didn't allow for Johnson losing some speed when he pulled out of the draft to pass. I would have been happier if Martin and Burton were right behind Vickers. :D

Re: NASCAR thread

Junior was more inflamed about Gordon than about getting wrecked out of winning the race. Johnsons camp is still whinning, but he'd have whined if Vickers hadn't tried to draft past Jr. with him. Wonder if Vickers'll still have a job next weekend since he's leaving the team at the end of the season. I'm sure the phone lines are burning up with those conversations. They're beefing up security for Vickers sake (regardless of who he's driving for) due to threats from other teams fans. :borg:

You are absolutly correct. They would've whined about whatever Vickers would have done. Vickers would have got crap no matter what he did. It just got blown out of proportion because he is a young driver that doesn't run up front every week. If Jr. would have done it, Everyone would just say it was a racing incident. What about when Jr. got warned about bump drafting? Not but one lap later, he bump drafts Kurt Busch in the turn and almost spins him out and NASCAR didn't to a thing about it.

I'd spin my mom on the last lap to win a cup race. Vickers has been on the losing end of so much crap in the past, I'm glad he won and he did nothing wrong. :yeh:

Actually, Junior probably would have said that he checked up while trying to slingshot past him for the lead...as if that would make any sense. :??:

I also like Kenseth but it would be nice to see someone win the championship that you would never have expected. Such as Burton or Hamlin or someone like that. Although my favorite driver that is in the chase would have to be Kenseth.

gvervoren 10-22-2006 05:16 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

I was kinda hoping that Hamlin would have passed Jimmy at Martrinsville today even though I am a neutral fan of Hamlin. Don't like him nor do I hate him. But I think in all honesty, Jimmy does deserve a championship. It would be nice to see somelike like Burton or Hamlin win it though. Someone you wouldn't expect. I can't beleive how close the points race got after this race.

I really enjoyed it. Wish Tony had restarted second, then Bobby Labonte would have probably won. :23:

Glad to see Kennseth take the points lead, but hate that Marks fallen so far behind. Looks like Gordons still out, now we need some really bad mojo to find its way into that other Hendrick car. :borg:

I think the rookie in car 06 got a real education today. Schrader probably wanted to shove those bumper tubes up his rookie butt. :eyebrows:

I don't get why Dale Jr took such a chance getting around Kain. How many dang times did we hear "big picture" over his scanner? WTH :SMASH:

Re: NASCAR thread

Bobby's my #1 driver. I figured his career was done when he moved to the Petty's. 4 top 10's in the last 5 races is better than I ever thought. He may still have the most DNF's this year. Anyway I'd like to see him competetive again like Jeff Burton is now. As far as the Championship goes this year, Kenseth is my choice, but I'll be happy for any of them except Harvick.

Re: NASCAR thread

2 in a row for Stewart. I wonder how he would be doing in points if he were in the chase? I think Johnson will get the championship this year. Although he is not my favorite to win, I think he does deserve it.

falcongtho3 11-05-2006 07:57 PM

Re: NASCAR thread

I was wondering the same thing about Stewarts ranking had there been no 'Chase'. Should he do as well in the next two races I think you'll hear a very vocal outpouring about reworking the chase. There wasn't a Ford in the top 10 finishers. I wonder where the weak issues are and what needs to be doen to get to making them more competitive? :borg:

They said on TV that he would be in second and only 19 points out but not sure if that was with this win or was after last week.

JJ in first place. :grr: That sucks. I can not stand that man. :SMASH: He is to full of himself and will never admitt he makes a mistake. Product of the Hendrick juggernaut. :machgod: NOT

With DEI talkng about buying the two Yates cars positions, this isn't going to leave much for Ford fans to cheer about. Really can't hope for Johnson to be the victor, even though that's what looks like will be the eventual outcome. Word is that on the COT front, GM will use the Impala name on those cars instead of the Monte Carlo tag. DC is possibly looking at the Challenger or Avenger name for theirs...wonder if Fords tough about using Mustang for their COT entry? :borg:

They could just go all out and submit Cougar. It would be nice to have another Eliminator. Just re-body the GT500 and make a few thousand of them.

Re: NASCAR thread

If Ford would build one. It seems like they could generate some sales and enthusiast momentum by doing a Merc-bodied Stang. I know there was a concept a few years ago, it wasn't called Cougar, but it looked like it could be a candidate. If Ford had the guts, and possible their new leader does, to actually watch their own commercials and make some truly BOLD MOVES, there could be a future for all of their divisions. A new Falcon (yeah, its broken record time) sure looks like a good candidate for a NASCAR entry, on the showrooms either as a Ford or Mercury product. Either line could use a paring down of their lines and this is a car that would sell, could be raced in a number of series and actually get some positive press for the blue oval. :borg:

Yeah, the Cougar came back looking like the Eclipse. Kind of soiled the Cougar name there just like Chevrolet did by bringing back the Monte Carlo as a front wheel drive V6. :SMASH:

I'd love to see the Cougar back looking similar to the Mustang.
