http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/16/g...nascar-engine/ Ford is also developing and now testing a NASCAR design (which they have done numerous times in the past) to compete with the competition. This is an interesting sight: Ask Bill Bagwell, a lifetime Detroit-area General Motors employee, proud daily driver of a Pontiac, and he'll tell you that NASCAR is an American sport, and Toyota is a Japanese car company, regardless of where the Camry is built. Bagwell feels strongly enough to start a Web site, FansAgainstRacingToyotas.com, with the acronym FART - "We're creating a stink!" He felt strongly enough to start a site to sell for $$$$$!!! http://fansagainstracingtoyotas.com/ There are several people trying to just make a buck or gain fame by the arrival of Toyota. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/fea...s_terribl.html The Ford stuff is developmental, the R07 has obviously seen track use, and the Toyota engine is on the track in 4 different versions in 3 Nascar divisions. The big issue is not Toyota - it's the fact that we have not seen a stock car race in many moons. It is an American Sport and should be run in American cars (stock cars) driven by Americans. :butt: |

Brian France is a boob that drives a Lexus.
Traitor. |
Re: NASCAR thread
:OFFTOPIC: But did you catch the IRL finale? Dario Franchetti (or Mr. Asley Judd if you will) won the race and the championship on the last turn of the last lap of the race when Scott Dixon ran dry on fuel. Very exciting!!! Hope when Dario drives next year in the Cup series he brings an energy with him, hopefully different energy than Montoya.

fine levied (say it...say it like Dr. Evil would say it...), while handing the Red Team the series championship as well as probably putting the series best driver 'Hamilton' in a Red car next season by driving the other team out of not only contention, but probably out of business as well. :borg: |

Yep you got that right, that's why Juan is RUNNING away with a championship and has had no trouble on the track. :23: NASCAR has open-wheel racing too. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ed/nshome2.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...websizzler.jpg NASCAR has always done open-wheels http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...H_xwbred21.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...P35MiniMod.jpg |

That's a smart move. Real cars are always better than the COT crap. So we may see some V8 Supra's. :OUCH: |

If so, we win! |

Let's not forget the fiascal a couple of years ago in Indy. :notsure: I'll take my cold Budweiser, a bowl of Dorito's, and a Nascar race anyday over a glass of Chardonay, cheese cubes, and a F1 race. |

Never been a huge fan of open wheel racing so I'll gladly keep my NASCAR any day too. |
Re: NASCAR thread
A bunch of my favorites up front at the end. Carl and the Biff would have put on a good show if they would have run longer between cautions. Nice run for Martin, Jr, and Burton.

Re: NASCAR thread
If it's not Gordon or Johnson running 1-2 you'll never see me complain about two class guys like Edwards or Biffle finishing in that order. Nice finish by Jr. as well. I can't wait till he crosses over to the good side of the force with the Hendricks team next year. :HOPPY:

Re: NASCAR thread
I was sick to see Kenseths car go south so near the end. He was the class of the field for most of the day, including leading the most laps. Very happy to see a backflip at the end of the race!
:borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
Edwards' car failed inspection, being 1/2" too low in the RR.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
Carl didn't lose any points.

Re: NASCAR thread
Not today, he will tomorrow...
:borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
You watch, Brian (Panzy)France will put the screws to Jack if he can.

He always does!!

It's been pretty consistent all year with the penalties. I don't think they(Roush) should be penalized as severe as the Hendricks team or DEI were earlier. However, they were not legal and a penalty is in order. I hate to say that because Edwards is a class act. |
ASSCAR screw Edwards and Roush for 25 points
And it had some bent brackets near the "low" area.
What a crock. http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/head...ine/index.html |
Re: NASCAR thread
Even though the 25 point hit drops him a few spots in the chase, the points spread is so tight right now that everone is still in the chase.
:borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
I don't follow NASCAR anymore for precisely this reason. Jack Roush is still the only car owner to lose points after winning a race...now a second time.

Re: NASCAR thread
Carl will win this weekend .

I also hope during the victory burnout, he smacks the wall just a tiny bit to make height measurements pointless. |
Re: NASCAR thread
The 'right' guy smacked the wall yesterday...during practice. I hope he continues practicing smacking the wall all day today...

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Jimmy took the pole (read into that what you will), and then was turning the fastes practice laps of the day when the wall jumped out in front of him. Darn...
:borg: (PS, that last part was sarcasm...just in case there was any confusion in the Henricks organization. Kinda like Kyles illegal manifold yesterday) |

I cannot believe the idiot comentators are praising Stewrat for his actions in the first lap wreck after the long red flag... And now that *$#*& jerk took out Edwards!!!! C'mon NASCAR,do somthign about this Robbie Gordon wannabe! :borg: |

This is getting funny! Can they run 10 laps without wrecking?
|
Re: NASCAR thread
They will challenge the finish for sure. They should have let him start it up and drive to the pits. :eyebrows:
|
Re: NASCAR thread
The best part was watching Stewart in the car throwing things around. He will probably blame Kurt for the incident even though there was nothing he could do.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
BP will be happy! They sure can whine when they think it will get them a little more! I hate to see losers whine!
