Re: NASCAR thread
[rant on]
I've decided that either Brian France has to go, or I'm calling it quits as a Nascar fan! That boy has screwed this sport up every which way he possibly can! We're coming up on the third name change of the series in the past four years (Winston Cup, Nextel Cup, Sprint Cup). All races next year will have that sorry *** COT, which is nothing more than IROC cars with a wing on the back! Every one will have equal cars, and nobody is allowed to touch anything on them, so why do they even need crew chiefs? Just change the tires, gas it, and go. Whoever manages to get up front on the last lap wins. How frickin' boring is that gonna be? Races that don't start until 4:00 in the afternoon? WTF is that about? Nevermind, I know, it's all about the money, and how much the France family can put in their pockets! Tony Stewart in a Toyota? OMFG, just shoot me now! [/rant off] |

They won't sell NASCAR either but the rumors really fly when the offers come in. If they keep going as they are ------- somebody with that kind of money will start a competing series. Then we will have the mess like Indy Cars -- IRL, CART, USAC, etc ...... Winston was a sweet deal for Bill France Sr, he can't be resting in peace now. :smack: |

Re: NASCAR thread
Without going into a rant on COT/Toyota etc, I figured you guys would just like some shots of a real great Pit Crew.
My wife has been friends and knowing various Pit Crew members since we have been going to Homestead. Anyway, she knows some real great guys at the 19 (Elliott Sadlers Ride), and they invited her to stay in the Pits again this year for the Ford 400. (she did last year and there are some good shots way further back in this thread from last year). http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_9790.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_9941.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_9897.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_9819.jpg Anyways, Elliott had a strong car was moving good through the field but backed it into the wall by pushing too hard. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_9997.jpg They guys worked and worked and worked at the car but, the downforce was just no longer there |
Re: NASCAR thread
At least on the bonus, we are making our way back home with the debris from the 19! Since the Pit crew hooked her up with the take-off's after the race!
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_0206.jpg Pretty cool to think we now have the last of the "real" (non-cot) Charger's that was run by Elliott and the Guys. The 19 bunch, is a great group and she has had more fun with them than in prior years where she stayed with the 38 and 21 gang. Also, Kenseth kicked A and J.J. tried a lame burn-out to compare to Kenseth's: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_0139.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_0143.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_0149.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...l/IMG_0135.jpg |
Re: NASCAR thread
Nice pics. Looks like a fun time. :smokin:
|
Re: NASCAR thread
Great shots! Wish I could have been there, or anywhere at a race that wasn't rained out (read:Michigan).
You'll enjoy this; I took (what I thought was) a nice photo at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit of the display of two cowboy hats. One is Richard Pettys, the other one belongs to a guy named Carroll Shelby. (see the Resigtry Gallery under the 2007 Woodward Cruise section) I had it done up in an 8X10. And then I had it signed by both men...I really prize this, it looks so cool! :borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
Great pics. That would be awesome to be right in the pits like that.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
It WAS awesome being there!!! Like a dream come true!!! AGAIN!!
And seriously, the crew are the nicest guys ever!!!!!:worship: ALL of them!! I have a ton of photos to go through, and I need to update my web site, but I do have photos there from last year. You can check them out at : http://www.femalefordfotofan.com/vths83friday.html Once Thanksgiving is over, I will get my butt in gear to get new pics up!! So check back soon!!! Thanks for the comments, guys!!! tee-hee!! I have a cars butt :butt: in my living room!!!!! and my husband doesnt care!!!!!!! :) how cool is THAT!!??? |
Re: NASCAR thread
Started to look through a few pics, but gotta get ready for Thanksgiving, instead!! Heres the Bullitt leading the Busch Cars out....
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/IMG_9381.jpg Obviously, this was NOT from the pits, but rather from the stands. !!! |
Re: NASCAR thread
Thought I'd dust this one off as it's getting close to time for the 50th Daytona 500!
On a less happy note, I'm wondering who the Cup sponsor will be in a few years. As Sprint/Nextel is laying off 4,000 workers due to its' shrinking subscriber base, the question on the table as to how long they can pony up the $ to be the main sponsor of the Cup Series? :borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
The Hoover Cup!
As in hoover vacuums... lol |
Re: NASCAR thread
Yay! Back from the dead!
This is going to be one strange year is all I can say. Junior at Hendricks, Gibbs in Toyota, COTomorrow is COToday.... Good thing is that at least a handful more races this year will be starting before 1PM compared to last year. That way I may actually stay awake through the whole race (well, at least most of the race).... |
Re: NASCAR thread
I can't wait till the 500. I get bored on Sundays now:(
|
Re: NASCAR thread
I could stand to see some racing again. I've been racing on the computer some and watching DVDs recently to get ready. ???? Still can't find V8 powered Fusions and Camrys at the dealerships. :23:

That would really suck! (Ok, Ok...it had to be said! ) First edition of this seasons 'For Race Fans Only' is on tonight on QVC. Don't buy much from them, but really like seeig what items are out there. :borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
I'm ready for another season. I'm going to three of the races this year. Michigan, Pocono, and I'm stoked, Talladaga this year.
Once again here's hoping much sucess to Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Casey Mears, and of course the latest additon to a great Hedricks team, Dale Earnhardt Jr. And with that here's hoping for many last place and DNF's to the entire sold out to Toyota team of Joe Gibbs Racing: Tony Stewrat(hate the punk), Kyle Busch(just like Stewrat), and Denny Hamlin(good driver and good guy, but driving a Toyota). May your sponsors question putting their names and logos on Toyota. Go 24 & 48 & 88 |
Re: NASCAR thread
I think Hendricks will be an even stronger team this year then they were last year. Bad news for the rest of the guys.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
Start a new thread and end this one from last year.

As to who should sponser the NASCAR series, it should be something that'll stick around and won't go under like.......... The Frito Cup The Pepsi or Coke Cup The **insert your favorite fast food joint here** Cup The Mayfield Cup (could be Breyers as well) The Little Debbie Cup The Hersey Peanut Butter Cup I think you know were I'm going with this. Share your favorite would be sponser. :D Oh yeah, THERE IS ONLY ONE NASCAR THREAD! Two would just confuse the heII out of me! |

But would that be "B" or "C" series racing???:PIMP: |
Re: NASCAR thread
You'd have different 'lettering' for the level of series; A, B, C, and D for the various series.
You might have to forgive me for putting that out there. I just finished watching the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, and they were talking about the Kotex Cup...I can't even tell you how funny that was. You'll have to watch/rent it. As a bonus, Foxworthy does a great piece about Jeff Gordon! :borg: |

But then again, it is NASCAR, so same old shi#, different year, whatever. Bring on NHRA Drag Racing. |
Re: NASCAR thread
Depends on how you're set up. I only see 28 pages of history of past seasons. Will be great to look back on. Newbs won't waste their time, they'll go straight to the last page.
I do agree, bring on the NHRA season! |

Hottie thread is full of great photos of T&A, which, in my opinion, never gets old or dated, so those type threads are a great to look back on:11: . Reading about how Jr will leave DEI for somewhere is yesterdays news. Leave last years stuff last year. |

Re: NASCAR thread
With using the same thread, we maintain a historical base that people can access so that they can look back at a time when all of the cars were different, Toyota didn't rule the tracks, and...oh, who am I kidding...this is gonna start sucking this coming year...

We got two weeks to go for 500 I'am going pick Matt #17

I think David Reutimann in the Toyota will win at Daytona. His car is running like it's on jet fuel. :23:

I predict Jimmy Johnson will cause a major crash at the Twins and then he'll get caught cheating in the race. NASCAR will then award him the Victory to assure he Three-peats the Championship! :D

Re: NASCAR thread
Sure don't need to see the smaller teams fold. When it's all BIG teams or BIG money --- it will become BIG boring. :anger:
Sounds like MMM has some hope for being at Daytona with Mike Wallace. Best of luck to them. :worship: http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/busi...own/index.html |
Re: NASCAR thread
This is a big step towards franchise racing. :butt:
NASCAR needs to split up the big teams, get rid of the top 35 BS, and ditch the stupid freaking chase format. The knuckleheads had a winning formula and have screwed it up trying to get MEGAbig. :butt: Local racing is more exciting and the competition is tighter in Legends and Thunder roadsters than MoneyCup racing. This might be the last year I can support CUP. :soapbox: |
