Re: Eaton Swap.....
For anybody following this thread, I updated the first post with a parts list with part #'s for what I had.
Enjoy and happy hunting to all. |

((9A825))Cruise control cable ((9728))Throttle and cruise control cable mounting bracket I updated those for you with base numbers so that everything has one. You can edit the first page with them if you'd like. :D |

Re: Eaton Swap.....
Ya know what my question is? I read through that write-up on extreme hp. The elctronics, they didn't mention much about how that all works. Once you bolt everything up and wire it in, it just fires right up without any tuning or anything? That's how it sounded from that guys write up. That just seems odd though because the ecu isn't set up for boost.. Anyone have any clarification on that front? Plus the Cobra uses and IAT sensor and the boost bypass..

Re: Eaton Swap.....
i remember reading somewhere that they had a dyno shop give them a box tune just so they could start it. ive contacted him a few times already about various things concerning the swap.

Re: Eaton Swap.....
the part i hate doing the most... grinding sh!t off the block.
the alternator wiring intercooler pump wiring some pcv stuff. im sure im gonna have alot more. |
Re: Eaton Swap.....
Well i'm coming along pretty well, i've got everything removed down to the timing cover, just about to pull that since i finally got the tool to remove the harmonic balancer. About half way down on the knock sensor bosses being ground down, those are such a pain in the ***, never expected it to take this long. Such a slow process and getting anything major down in the there is not happening. So far so good. As far as tuning, i'm gonna try to have my insurance company pay for towing to a "trusted shop" to work on my car since it isn't driveable haha. Hopefully that'll work out, don't have too far to go. How's your swap coming Wutang?
|
Re: Eaton Swap.....
the tool i need for the balancer to come off is on order :D so when that gets here i can make some more progress. im gonna continue grinding down the knock sensor mounts on the 26th.
im gonna call my tuner and have give me a box tune just so i can start her up and check for leaks/gauges working properly and then have it towed 50 miles to his shop so he can work his magic. |
Re: Eaton Swap.....

I can't see myself spending that much for a ported eaton with upgrading to a whipple by the end of this year. So with that being said, I'm going to take apart my s/c and port it myself. I already did the plenum. Go to svtp.com and there's some good pics of guys doing it themselves with some good gains. After looking it over I think it wont be too hard to do myself and save that $500. Archie |
Re: Eaton Swap.....
hmm...im worried a stage 4 will be to much for the stock bottom. i mean your talking over 500rwhp.
|
Re: Eaton Swap.....
There are part numbers/lists all over this thread. Can anyone condense it into 1 single list? with prices for the parts that have their prices posted?
I'm finding this thread almost hard to read. Even If its just full parts numbers I'll happily spend time tracking down new Ford prices to post up. |
Re: Eaton Swap.....
First post has all the part #'s needed to complete the whole swap.
Parts with pictures are on page 2. There's a cobra guy running a stg 4 at just 475 on a stock bottom. From what I understand it's all in the tune. |
Re: Eaton Swap.....
ok then I'll work on putting together a part/cost spred sheet :)

Org. post: Hey bob, i have a 04' mach 1 i am doing a Eaton conversion to.(i will be running the stock pulley on it.) i noticed that the pulley (when spun by hand) has a slight wobble to it. so i will be sending it in for a rebuild also i was looking at getting some porting done to help lower IAT as much as possible. what would you recommend? Reply: We have done those exact set ups with stage 4 with 9-10 lbs boost. Your motor has more compression so that helps with a safe tune. Thanks and please enclose a note with name and phone number we do call once it arrive s let us know which service's you will be wanting. |

My kit I put together is running right around 2k right now. That's with alot of extra's that im going to turn around and sell to get some of my money back. Archie |
Re: Eaton Swap.....
True, the pricing would be a worse case senario, but it would still be handy to have to tell if you are getting a deal on a part of not.
