Chances of that are pretty slim.

Re: NASCAR thread

For some odd reason there's a few pages I can't get into, page 6 on this thread being one of them :headbang:

I see Mikey's lost his crew chief indefinily, as well as a huge ponts hit to start the season. The 'sustance' was called a Jet Fuel-Like material (!) and was suspected in aireating the fuel. Odd seeing his car sitting in the garage with no motor in it...! Kennseth and Kahne will be starting 50 ponts and $50K lighter to start the years and the other Everham cars will see 25 point and $25K taken from them...all to start the season!

I can't imagine how the Toyota guys are feeling, they've lost face and that's huge in the Japanese culture. I have a feeling they've learned the hard way, whether they had any knowledge of this or not, that throwing money into the Cup series is not the answer to everything. Wonder how long Mikeys team will be around??? :borg:

(Sorry if this is any dupliction of the previous page...)

If they send it to the same lab that they sent Michael Vick's water bottle, then it probably will be something "innocent."

I don't like Waltrip but in a strange way I'm glad he got all his cars in the race. It must be I dislike NASCAR's inspection procedure even more. :SMASH:

Toyota owns a share or two I'm sure!

As for the Twin 150s, how many people were pulling for the 72 year old guy to make it? Six laps away and he got dumped out of the draft...:wall:

Re: NASCAR thread

It would've been cool for him to make it, just so he would have accomplished it at his age. I would have then hoped he was the first car out of the race with a mechanical failure, because I can't imagine him being in the race would have been safe.

Re: NASCAR thread

Of the eight Toyotas which attempted to qualify, only four made it in. One fo those, Dale Jarretts #44, has to use a champions provisional to get in! And this year they are limited to (I believe) six provisional starts, unlike precious years where there were unlimited provisionals.

The Toiletta drivers should be required have a pic of a fried egg on their helmets.
ASSCAR probably won't allow them to "race" with it on their faces.

:borg:

That new provisional rule is the best one they came up with this year! The only reason Toyota hired Jarrett was for his guaranteed prior-champion provisional and then NASCAR yanked it away. I'm miffed a bit that DJ left Ford for Toyota but money talks and probably anyone in his position would do the same (50 years old with a loyal sponsor and looking for a change). Kinda funny that DJ still gets the money and Toyota ends up getting screwed! :11:

Re: NASCAR thread

Me personnaly, I'm not going to dislike a driver because of the make of car he drives. For instance, I am a big Ford guy and I have been a Rusty Wallace fan for a while (sucks that he is retired now). I didn't dislike him just because he went from Ford to Dodge. I am a fan of the driver, not the car.

As to the penalties this year, WOW NASCAR is really cracking down. I think it was Kenseth's crew cheif that said a plug fell out of the wheel well and that is why the hole was there. I don't beleive it. Of course why would Kenseth's and Kahn's team need to cheat? They are guarenteed a spot in the 500 regardless. Starting position doesn't really matter at Daytona and Talladega. You can start last and lead the race within 5 or 6 laps.

What do you guys think about Jimmy Spencer on speed. I think he is dope.
Seems to put his foot in his mouth every other sentence.

Re: NASCAR thread

Is it just me (because I dislike Hendrick racing) or do they get all the advantages from NASCAR. Why are there no points from Gordon? How can NASCAR tell what was intentional? Maybe we should try Hendrick's logic with our friendly officer. "Sorry officer I did not intend to go 150 mph in my MACH, you know I could have had a crash going that fast, so you know it was not intentional." Going to the end of the longest line in a restictor plate race is no punishment unless there are only a few laps left. OK I am done.

btw My wife is a huge Gordon fan.

I never rooted for him but he became my hero when he punched Kurt "Rubber-Head" Busch in 2003! I went to the Bristol race that Spencer missed because of his suspension and there were "Free Jimmy" shirts everywhere. Buddy of mine bought a Kurt Busch bobble-head that one enterprising vendor blacked out one eye on! Freakin' good time! :31:

BOOOOO Kevin Harvick

Mark Martin deserved to win the Daytona 500. 23 years and no victory at Daytona and with a finish that close I think the win should've gone to Mark, he's a clean driver and one of the best in the Nextel Cup! Maybe next time, Mark!

It was an exciting race and great way to start off the season, I just wish Mark would've held Kevin off at the finish.

Re: BOOOOO Kevin Harvick

The title IMO should read BOOOOO NASCAR!
I would like to thank NASCAR for being able to choose when the rules apply and when. Not that I wanted Mark to win, glad to see him run good. All this talk about not racing back to the line... Maybe it is just me but the caution would have came out as soon as the crash started on any other given lap. They would have never raced back to the line. Just wish NASCAR would be consistant with the way things are done. It was a great race and glad to see Kevin win. Just not very happy with NASCAR.
