That's true. I guess now is the time to admit I was wrong about my team. Buried somewhere in this thread is my prediction that Chicago was going to go 4-12 again. I saw no upgrades for the o-line, combined with a group of coaches who had not exactly been successful as head coaches and didn't think much of it. Frankly I have no idea how they have turned the team around the way they did, all I know is that this is one of those times I'm happy to be wrong.

I really think they have embraced playing a balanced game. They run well, short pass, and long pass well too. Mike Martz is an Offensive Genius. The Special teams can score, if the ball is kicked to Hester, any time it is touched, and the D gives them chances to win games. I think anyone who plays Philly in the NFC playoffs will have its hands full, but the Bears have a good chance to go deep this year.

If the Falcons can beat the 'Aints tonight then I'll definitely believe they're for real. The NFC will lead through them if they win tonight. I'll be rooting for them.

It was not to be. Let's face it, the Saint's are the only ones lately that can march into that dome without fear.;)

Brees had his sack radar on tonite. Jeez. I can't believe the escapes he engineered.

If it would have been me, I would have gone for it on 4th down in the Falcons last drive with 3 minutes left. All that Matty "Ice" talk and then they punt it away. I thought that was stupid.

I think that the last MNF for the season was a game to remember. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out in the post-season. These are the two toughest teams in football.

To me that is the single most annoying nickname in sports. "Matty" sounds like the 90 year old woman down the street who likes to play bridge and smoke Virginia Slims.

Evidently nobody does. Top rated game in 13 seasons of AFC broadcasts? Pats vs Jets? Nope. Steelers vs Colts? Nope.

Jets vs BEARS.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...-bears-ratings

You AFC teams call us when you need some ratings and oh, by the way....... GO BEARS!

So, are we talking about ratings? or being a tough team like what was mentioned earlier?

Also, the last time I checked, the Jets were in the AFC... has that recently changed?

Steelers are playing mostly 2nd team players for sundays game, vs the Browns.

you patriot haters need to wake up and show some respect just because they consistantly beat your teams is not reason enough to hate them. What they have done in the last 10 years truly is an awsome thing for the game of football.

 I don't know what you're talking about. If they beat the Steelers then so be it. Nothing I can do about it. If I don't like a team then I don't like them for whatever reason. I already stated in my opinion they're the best playing team right now. I've seen too many NFL threads start at the beginning of the season with Patsy fans already screaming Superbowl. Get real.

I don't like them because Billachump is a prick and Rodney Harrison is the dirtiest player I have ever seen play in the new era, then gets on TV and starts the whole fine a mother ****ing Steeler 50k campaign. (Granted he didn't say fine Harrison, but he did start the drama with the heavy fines).

Might I be a hater? yeah probably, like most people who aren't Steeler fans hate on our team becasue we got 6 SB rings

I don't want the Steelers to win because Big Ben is a complete effing moron off the field. He may make good desisions during a game... but he continually makes bad ones between games.

And one more thing for you Steeler azz kissers.... NO PATRIOT FANS here picked them to go to the Super Bowl this year.

Oh ya, Polamula realy should get a hair cut, all that pubic looking hair on his head looks kinda silly.

Here comes the truth.

I think Ben is a moron too. I thought we should have traded him. I am still surprised his arm wasn't broken by some girls father.

I pick my team to go to the Sb every year. Even when I think they will stink (like I thought they would this year)

You want to talk about HAIR???!!! Have you seen Brady??? Tall Justin Beiber looking dumb ***? Give me a break. Atleast Troy's hair is worth money, and has a cultural meaning. What is Tom's excuse. Gisele made him? :31: :fro:

Ha, I knew I was leaving myself wide open to Brady hair comments. But thats all good fairplay, I had it coming. But, hopefully Tom doesn't let his grow as long as Polamula's or Clay Matthews. Cultural meaning or not, I just think it looks stupid sticking out of their helmets to halfway down their backs.

Worst owner ever and horrible previous GM.

I have my doubts about "Shananigans" and his ability to pick players who fit into a system. He can find talent, but he has had trouble putting it together in the past.

What was Berger ever convicted of? If they traded players everytime someone got continually busted for something you'd have entire teams being traded. The Bengals and Cowboys would'nt have had a team. Do I think Vick is still a scumbag? Yes. I knew he'd be back in the league before he ever did one day in jail. He did 2 years when the average schmoe would have done 10 years.

The Bears seem to have no problem jettisoning problem players such as Cedric Benson or Tank Johnson and yet they still win games.

Not only do I think Vick is still a scumbag, I think all his public appearances and all his sincere statements of remorse are just an act to get another shot at $100,000,000.00.

Re: NFL Football Thread

Personally I don't have hatred for any team and love to watch a good game. There are so many good players out there that I don't only have to watch the Pats play to enjoy a Sunday of football. Pittsburgh is a great team and has proved that by the 6 SB wins. Now players in particular I can hate. Hate may be a harsh word but I agree with most that Vick is the biggest scumbag there is. Is he good, yes do I think he should be playing in the NFL. NO
I guess that not to much can compare to viciously killing helpless animals.

Thunderbolt 12-31-2010 07:37 PM

Re: NFL Football Thread

I could see remorse if he did it once, but to keep killing dog after dog after the first one, then their is no remorse. He would have done it a thousand more times if he was'nt busted.

Being a Steeler Fan I was upset with Ben because this wasn't his first rodeo. You heard about how he was a womanizer before all of this came out. How he treated business owners in Pittsburgh, and just the fact he felt he was better than most.

Granted he was never convicted of anything, but I believe a rapist/ molestor is far worse than a dog killer.

Look back at the Steeler history of players that have been cut, even recently they cut Santonio. Ben is one of the only people they kept around, to my knowledge.

I 100% do not agree with your assessment of Vick. I believe people can change and deserve the right to change.

I agree that a rapist/molestor is worse than a dog killer, but not by much. It takes the same kind of heart to do both things.

I also agree that most people can change and deserve the right to change. People make mistakes, I get that, I've made plenty. But I think that there is a huge difference between someone who loses his temper and gets in a fight or who steals something without thinking about it and a person who can look an animal in the eye while it is begging for mercy and burn it, electrocute it, drown it or beat it to death. THAT person has something inside of them that is BROKEN. Something broken that is in the core of who that person is and something broken that is not going to be fixed in 18 months. One of the personality traits that almost all serial killers possess is that they tortured animals at some point during their lives working their way up to slaughtering human beings. Can a guy like Ted Bundy seem very charming? Intellegent? Remorseful? Why I bet for $100,000,000.00 and a shot at getting his old life back old Ted would speak to NOW, make PSAs and tell anyone who would listen how sorry he was. How he'd like to get a woman of his own someday and settle down, just like Vick wistfully speaks of getting a dog. Would it change who he is or what he did? Not one bit.

I never wanted to see Vick back on the football field as long as I lived, now that he's there I want to see him get crushed. He's garbage and always will be in my eyes. Too bad he's also a GREAT football player.

You seem like a great guy and a passionate fan, but as much as I enjoy talking football with you we will always disagree on this one.

Vick did a paultry 2 years in some Hilton Hotel prison, then gets to go back to his old job after committing a felony. Kick his butt to the curb with nothing, just like any of us would have, then we'll see how he'd get back on his feet and completely change his life around. He did'nt have to do squat to get his life back.
