Re: NASCAR thread
Listen to this awesome quote I read in this weeks' Autoweek from Jimmy Johnson (Mr. GQ himself) on how Brian Vickers beat him to the pole at California:
The only other thing I can think of is Vickers and I went to In-N-Out Burger last night and I had a double-double and he had a single. So for 5/100 of a second, I guess that extra patty killed me. Say what you want about JJ but that's pretty dang funny if you ask me! :23: |

He was supposed to drive for Jack Roush, somehow I don't think he would fit in with that crew. He might be more suited for JGR. It's OK when drivers I don't like drive imports. :smokin: |
A Sad Day In NASCAR History........
# 24 won at the Texas Samsung 500. One of the only couple of tracks that he has not won at! Bastid! :anger:
I was hoping that he would hit the wall or something :23: Big Ron :smokin: |
Re: NASCAR thread
What in the h*!! happened to Edwards in the last pit stop? I missed it and when I got back to watchign he went form leading to 10th or so!
D'OH!!!! Congrats to Biffle on a solid finish and a return to form. :borg: |

Yeah, both front tires in the same stop. I wonder if he will be changing tires next week.

Re: NASCAR thread
From what I understand there are a few guys in the Roush teams that have knee injuries and are out of action, two of them are part of Edwards team. Right now he has a couple of second stringers on his crew.
I will give Edwards credit though, he never stooped to the low life, arrogant I never make a mistake, name calling, public bashing, and belittling of his team like that immature pompous azz known as Kyle Busch did a few weeks back. |

Re: NASCAR thread
Edwards has certainly, almost frustratingly, quiet about the while thing. But the ggod side is that he not slamming anyone for anythign that has happened, and he goes out and tries to correct the problem on the track like a quality driver, and person, would.
He took another shot in the (lug) nuts yeaterday during the Nationwide race. I was watching as he came into the pits 1st...and on the restart was 20th! It was a loose lug issue, and what did he do? Raced his tail off to get up as high as 3rd, eventually ending up with a 5th place finish. What did eventual 2nd place Kyle the whinner do? Complained that his teammate beat him and that there was too much access by the fans before the race. Class act, right? :borg: |

Another example of how pathetic this low life, self centered, egotistical, excuse of a human he is. A winner is someone who can show class whether they win or lose. This douche bag has no class in victory and sure has no class when he loses. |

Mark Martin a winner, I've been waiting for this all season. :worship: |

Re: NASCAR thread
It's nice to see him win again. I'm not a Mark Martin fan but I don't dislike him either. IMO He is one of those drivers that if he wins it's pretty cool but he doesn't, oh well. He really hasn't been consistantly competitive for a while until this year so I kinda lost interest in him.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
I'm also not a fan of Mark Martin nor am I one that dislikes him either. I'm glad that he won this weekend. He's a class guy and it's always nice to see someone with class win.
As for someone who has no class at all. Yes I would be talking about Kyle Busch. I wonder if after he screwed up in pit road and was penalized for going to fast he called on the radio and told his crew he was sorry for causing them to lose for his mistake. He sure did make sure he called them a few weeks ago and thanked them for blowing his chance to win. I'm sure he didn't. |

Here's some expert analysis on what it takes to win in NASCAR. Fascinating stuff.

Re: NASCAR thread
'Interesting' ending to the race today. Edwards nearly cleared the catch fence. I think they said 8 spectators were injured from debris at the end when Carls tapped, or was tapped by, Brad for his first victory. I thought it was funny at the time that Carl had the semse of mind/humor to run across the finish line. I don't know if that's how they scored him, bu tat least he beat Kyle and JJ, and Jeff.
Interesting that Newman and Jr. were in the same situation today as they found themselves yesterday, only to not win again! :borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
It was bad day for Carl he haded won until crash , but Brad better watch out for Carl next week,:smokin:
|
Re: NASCAR thread
What an ending! I thought Carl was a goner. Or one of the fans. Unreal. But talk about a class act, completely owning up to the whole thing. That's the reason he's my #1 driver. Think the Shrub would do that?
BTW, who else thinks poor Robbie Gordon needs a break? That poor guy has been wrecked just about every race for the past 2 years. He needs all the help he can get considering he's the only Owner/Driver in all of NASCAR!! Maybe we need to start collecting donations. |
Re: NASCAR thread
I'm sure that I'm in the minority here. I absolutely despise restricter plate racing. Nascar is talking out of their :butt: when they speak about safety. If they were really concerned about safety they would get rid of this kind of crap.
When I watch a race I want to see these guys go at it. As much as I hate guys like both the Busch brothers, Stewart, or anyone in a Toyota(yes I am a fan of the #24 & #48) I want to see them race. I hate this crap where they are bunched up this way so that Nascar can sell commercials and put the drivers and fans at risk. I agree with Carl Edwards comments that someone is going to get killed out there before Nascar wakes up and gets rid of this restricter plate crap. |

Re: NASCAR thread
That was a pretty scary crash, it reminded me of the one I saw in person at almost that same spot involving Bobby Allison when he ripped apart 125ft of catch fence 50 yards from where I was sitting. That was the last race without restrictor plates and shows that the plates are a failure.

Re: NASCAR thread
Actually watched the race yesterday (rain kept me in the house)
Just amazing how positions changed so quick....pretty interesting race |
Re: NASCAR thread
I like how Carl didn't put the blame on Brad. Like Carl said, it was just racing. He didn't think Brad was that far up on him so he moved down to block and tagged him. I felt sorry for Newman especially the last lap Saturday. He had it won until the last couple of seconds and then friday he gets a car landing on top of his hood. At least he still finished 3rd on Sunday.

Re: NASCAR thread
I was at the Talladega race. Got there on Thursday and left Sunday night. Saw the Arca, Nationwide, and Cup races. The wreck in turn 3 on lap 7 happened right in front of us. We were camped in the middle of turn 3 @4 right up against the infield fence. Best RV spot in the infield. Had a great time. The infield at Talladega is nothing short of Mardi Gra. Whine all you want about restrictor plates. Their gonna make the plates even smaller after that race. Myself, I don't mind the plate races at all. I think their great.

props to chad knaus and those guys. but like DW said, experience and darlington go together well. congrats to mark and also logano for running in the top 10.

I was happy for MM. Way to go.
It did upset me what happened to Kyle bushy. He was still running at the end and that upset me. :23: |

Now THAT was funny! Props to MM for being the great guy and derving winner that he is. A shame that the Biff had the class of the field all night and ended up not winning. :borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
Congrats to MM. Class act all the way. In fact whether you hate his teammates or not in JJ & JG all three of them are class acts. Same can be said for Biffle as well. Doesn't matter how tough a loss they have they are professional and show respect to the media and the fans.
I'm just glad to see Kyle Busch with another lousy finish. What a waste. I hate seeing that kind of talent on a pathetic human being as he is. The Nationwide race was another example of that. He lost a tough race he should have won when his tire blew with two laps left. But as usual he stormed out and not a word to the media or anyone. But when he wins he sure knows how to hug the camera. |
