Re: NASCAR thread
I think Waltrip just needs to park it....whens the last time he finished a race on the lead lap...or finished one period? It was cool to see Fords 1-2-3 at the end.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
And as a postscript (and notice NASCAR has not touted this fact), the winner of the Daytona 500 is not only not the points leader (that would be Carl Edwards), nor would he win the championship should he win every race for the rest of the season. Because he is registered in the Nationwide series for his points, he garners no points in the Cup series regardless of how well he does. Has France & Co. shot themselves in the foot again?

Re: NASCAR thread
Glad Ford wins and I got my free Taco at Taco bell if the 34# Ford was in top 10 you free taco love see 21 won 1st time in 10 years:ANGEL:

Re: NASCAR thread
Looks like the reason the FR9 was delayed
was due to additional cooling system development. Good call by Robert and Doug Yates. It just paid off handsomely. |
Re: NASCAR thread
By the looks of the run that Carl had at the end, I would have to agree.
In an addendum to my earlier rant about the new points system, it is not only the Cup series that is founled up as of the first race of the season, but all three. The winner of each series race this past weekend was by someone not registered to accumulate points in the series they won in, so in all cases the leaders in each series did not win their race. Can this get any goofier? :borg: |

Re: NASCAR thread
The new Chapionship trophy will be the "Brian France" trophy.
Not really a trophy, but a vase with one pansy in it. Wilted, and leaning to the left. |
Re: NASCAR thread
So (and I do really want to make this as completely confusing as it can be) do the owners/manufacturers still get the points? Will there be an apology at the end of season by the Champion if the actual points leader is not the same person? Could we see a Hyundai/Kia car or even a Car of The Day After Tomorrow?

Re: NASCAR thread
I watched out of curiosity and to see the Thunderbirds. To me they were not racing....they were riding around in pairs like Olympics ice skaters. Seems like the second car had to speed up and the first car had to slow down so they could hook up to go faster.
That ain't racing. :anger: I certainly hope this a one track phenomenon! |
Re: NASCAR thread
Big congrats to the Ford guys for taking the first four spots on the grid for todays race.
Happy to see Mark win the N/W race on Saturday, and a tip of the hat to Danica for her fourth place finish. :borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
Wasn't that the best finish by any female driver in that sereiers?
|
Re: NASCAR thread
Yes, the previous best was a 5th back in 1949.
:borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
Is it Robby Gordon's goal to spin out in every race. He seems to spin out every weekend. Most of the time it's his own fault.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
How 'bout that flippin' Carl?!? Great finish for the Fords, that's two out of three for the year. Not a bad start.

Re: NASCAR thread
How fouled up is the new points system? There have been three winners this year, and only one of them is in the top 10 in points...(at least it is Carl)...

Here's best thing from Bristol,
|
Re: NASCAR thread
Bristol sure isn't like it used to be. That's for sure.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
Lots of fans disguised as empty seats.
You asked for it, you got it, toiletta! Will Brian "the pansy" France ever figure it out? |
Re: NASCAR thread
I was truly shocked ot see the amount of empty seats during the cup race. It looked more like a nationwide race from that aspect. And I consider Bristol one of the more respected races, so I can imagine what races like Calif. this weekend will look like.

Re: NASCAR thread
People are feed up with it,it's like a soap opra every week it's the same thing.

Re: NASCAR thread
The sales of the Bristol tickets went south when they changed the track. Not so much when Toyota or the COT car came. When they made Bristol a 2 groove racetrack, it took all the drama out of the race and turned a lot of die-hard Bristol fans away. Everyone wanted to see the bump and run and fighting. That's what the track was known for and now it's all gone.

Re: NASCAR thread
I wish Roush, Petty Childress, Ganassi and the other owners
would start their own series, No foreign mfr's allowed. Just Ford, GM and Mopar. No toiletta, no honduh, etc. That way the treasonous DW would be out of a job. Let him pound salt. I never cared for him anyway, but his constant brown nosing of toiletta is sickening. |

Re: NASCAR thread
Great finish today. Harvick did a masterful job of getting past Kyle and Jimmy. :D
It was kind of boring early in the race. |
Re: NASCAR thread
It's always boring when a toilet leads.
Funny how some toilets blew up this weekend |
Re: NASCAR thread
Even though I'm not a Harvick fan, I was certainly happy to see him blow by the two biggest egos on the track.
Even better, Carl has the points lead! :borg: |

That was an absolute pile drive into Truex by Martin. The in-car camera shot was wild. It just happened so fast. Nice win for Ford.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
With Carl back in the points lead, this was a great night for Ford and shows the strength of the FR9. Obviously the word is now out that Ford is back to contend.
:borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
I was channel surfing and saw the last 20 laps of the Nationwide race. I HATE PAIRS RACING!!! The only thing good about it is it makes for some good finishes, but you've got to sit through 3 hours of Dancing With The Stars. Pretty wild seeing Mike Wallace flip his car.

I have come to the conclusion that you could put Kyle Busch in a "tank" and he would drive the wheels off of it. :worship: He was involved in "THE BIG ONE" with like twenty laps to go and came back to win it (all be it with a little help from his team mate)! Big Ron :) |
Re: NASCAR thread
FTW.
Again. :33: |
Re: NASCAR thread
I was rooting for Trevor Bayne to pull out another miracle win. I think I'm gonna jump on his bandwagon. He's driving a Ford, got Motorcraft as his sponsor, and he's a young driver. I have'nt had a favorite driver since Jarrett defected to Toyota. Years ago I liked Scott Riggs. He did good at Busch series, but never did anything when he got to Cup, and he switched to Chevy.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
I did'nt even bother to watch the Cup race today. Talladega and Daytona are runied.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
Watched a good deal of todays race and hated to see Bayne get caught up in the big one. A very good finish, although it would have been better had it been a Ford, but it was up for grabs right down to the last 1/16 of an inch!
:borg: |
Re: NASCAR thread
I turned it to Fox to see the last laps of the race, but it was already over. I only heard that Johnson won it.
|
Re: NASCAR thread
That dang Johnson guy again.... ugh
