It was a freakin' marathon of a week but I managed to survive...Tues night The Who @ the Wacovia Center Phila., Weds. The Original lineup Asia ( Carl Palmer ,Steve Howe, Geoffry Downes, Wenton on vocals ) , then Sat. Roger Waters @ the Camden NJ E-Center.....Whew....hard to pick a favorite..all were outstanding..hearing Pink Floyd played note for note was awesome...then again so was hearing Court of the Crimson King played live @ Asia was fantastic...the Who had thier " A " game on as well.....these old rockers just keep getting better with age..........!!!

Roger Waters is a jack-@$$. Talented musician, but just an absolute schmuck. I have no respect for musicians who use their concerts as a grandstand for their political views. He's not much better than Madonna in my opinion. Just shut up and play, that's what I pay for.

Whew! I'm done now, sorry to rain on your parade. :soapbox:

im a musician, and politics is part of my life. i express my views in my music. don't like it?? dont buy my cd or go to our concerts. but he has the right to say what he wants, when he wants... on a side note... i would hate not seeing roger daltry on vocals tho.

I'll never forget Sinead O'Conner ripping up a pic of the pope on Saturday Night Live about 10 years ago. That was career suicide IMO.

These song writers feeling were incorperated into their lyrics....

Genesis...Land of Confusion, John Mellencamp...Scarecrow, the list goes on and on and on. This is the way to do it and it adds depth to the music.

I agree with you. The catch is, I haven't seen blind political allegiance in his music before, so therefore, there's no reason for me to expect it at his concert. I try to avoid folks that do that for that very reason. I have my views and everyone else has theirs. I love Dave Matthews Band's music, but I've never seen them live, and now I won't, because I know he's the type to take political jabs and that's not what I'm interested in.

I won't go see Jeff Foxworthy to see a good version of MacBeth, and I won't go see a musical starring Bette Midler to catch the latest "redneck" jokes. I didn't vote for John Linder because he can play the hell out of a guitar and I won't go see Dave Matthews, or Pearl Jam to catch up on my politics.

Is Roger Waters a U.S. citizen? Does he even live in the United States?

i personally respected sinnead o conner. peoples opinions are just that... if you get offended... beautiful, that means free speech does exist.

look at the new pope, he just made an @$$ out of himself with his comments on islam.

when sinnead did that, she was martyred.... what comes around.... hahahaha!

Musta been tough to handle....Wish I could have given it a whirl :D .

Last concert we saw up in this Godforsaken area was REO Speedwagon, Styx and Survivor...REO and Styx put on a good show, but Survivor (as is normal) sucked...

The pope made asn @$$ out of himself? How? By telling the TRUTH? If anything, I like the pope better now.

I'm not offended by any of it.

Different Popes.

I understand that any human with such a large audience is going to use this too convey their views and they know and don't care if you agree or not. They make the statement for what they believe in. They have just as much rights as you or anyone else do.

That's true, I just don't think the pope made a fool of himself. He was quoting someone else to made a point that many Islamists reinforced by calling for revenge for his comments. To burn cities and kill people over over comment or some cartoons prove that some people can't be reasoned with.

By the way, just to keep this on topic, I just read that the Stones will tour again in 2007 and I WILL be there. The Stones are the best show out there right now, a must see for anyone who likes their music.

Whew, bad example that wasn't even intended to strike a nerve. I'm not against any religion here. I was just using the Sinead O'Conner incident as an example, not even thinking or the latest incident with the pope. I was still talking about music not religion.

No big deal, as tense as the world is right now anything dealing with Islam is going to stir people up. Nobody has forgotten September 11, 2001 and many, myself included see what's going on in the world right now as a serious threat to this country. I personally like seeing a fierce reaction from people alot better than apathy any day. It means people care and as long as that's the case there's hope for this world.
