New axles

Situation: Building the rear right after mustang week.

Car info: 477/418 @ wheels. Procharged, Swapping in hanlon built 3650. FLSC & torque box kit. Alum d/s, adj shocks/struts, 315 toyo r888s on rear.

Uses: street car. Plan on about 15-20 passes a year at most.

Future power (next year): built motor, upgrade h/u, supporting fuel mods and about 650-750 @ wheels.

Current rearend plans: 3.73 gear (frpp), new cover (moser), new axle bearings and install kit, 31 spline axles (see ? below), new diff (see ? below), welded tubes.

1st diff ? - plan on using Cobra diff w/ carbon clutches (can get for 220). Thought of possibly getting the FRPP Torsen T-2 but it is $300 more. Do you think it is really needed for the extra money.

2nd axle? - original plan was moser axles and new bearings ($295). Recently heard about another axle (Motive Ten Factory) from the guys building my rear. Said they have been using them alot lately. They are 220 and come with the bearings and a 10 year written warranty.
So does anyone have experience with them. It is a $75 diff and has a 10 year warranty. Both are made out of 1541H steel. Just can't find alot of info on them so not sure which way I want to go.

Thanks for reading the long post and for any helpful responses I get back.

Re: New axles

I havent talked to anyone using the motive axles but they sure look like a good deal. Throw them in and give them a beating and see what they can do.

Im not a huge fan of the T2. Its not really designed strip use and for the price I think the truetrac is a much diffy.

Re: New axles

Get the cobra diff and either moser or strange axles. The cobra diff is stout and easily/cheaply rebuildable when the time comes and the moser and strange axles are another tried and true product. That motive company may have a 10 year warranty, but like Chris Farley said in Tommy boy a guarantee is only as good as the guy who wrote it. I don't know much or heard much about that company. Hence I'd stay away. Just my. 02
