Engine, tranny, or rearend????

Stock engine with STOCK pan = 6 - 6.5 with a filter change

Stock TR3650 3 litres, 6.2 pints, or .75 below the fill hole OR 3.17 qts

Rear 1.9L or 4.0 - 3.5 pints

yea, for the engine. I'm doing it tomorrow. Motorcraft filter, Mobil 1 full synthetic oil. My car has 18k miles, would it make sense to change the tranny oil?

I don't believe your tranny oil needs a "change-out" assuming
your tranny set up is stock from the factory....

I just had my oil changed, took 7qts of CastrolSyntech with a Motorcraft filter, showed 1/2-3/4 of dip stick, from what I've read thats the max,I wonder if it took 7qts of regular grade oil, would it be too much?Sound like a new thread to me,lol lol.

I tend to agree. I changed mine at 20K but it was because I was worried it might be overfilled. :smokin:

7 quarts is 7 quarts just like 1 pound of feathers is the same as 1 pound of dirt

I use what it calls for 6 quarts Motorcraft Multi-Blend 5w-20 w/Motorcraft filter all purchsed from Wally-Mart when price was low. I think I have four case's and 3- 5 quart jugs left. I have 33,000 miles on the the factory recomended stuff w/ no issue's.

I'm with you. I use 6Q of the Motorcraft 5W20 spec and change it between 4 and 6K miles. My daily commute is 25 miles, so the engine hits full operating temps, so no worries about condensation sludge building in mine. FYI, my old '72 Mach 1 351 CJ oil used to look like honey when I changed it at 4K... never could figure out how it stayed so clean... maybe lower engine temps?

Re: How many quarts?

I changed tranny and rear end oil to synthetic at 20K ( and 4 years) - a little insurance policy maybe. Gear shift MUCH improved. No idea if rear end better/worse.

As for engine oil - whatever synthetic they (Ford, Jiffy Lube etc) put in to hit the mid mark on dipstick. I'm not that fussy, synthetic oil is good no matter the brand and I'm relatively gentle on the gas.
