Yea i watched this today, its amazing how far the mustang has come. I think the electronic steering is a big plus too...Good job Ford on getting caught up in technology:CHEERS:

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

After watching that and reading the specs, I think if the Mustang had the large 13.8 inch rotors in rear, It would have braked better and not nose dived.
For being 25k cheaper, The Mustang did awesome.

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

‎25k less for the GT and the M3 takes it by .09
but the question is how would the mustang be with a 2k brake set up and some suspention work and still cost under 38k

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

For the extra 25k the M3 should have walked over the GT so if it was up to to me Id get the GT. But if it was up to a friend of mine who is going to school to work on BMWs, Im sure he would choose the M3 as going from his posts on FB BMWs seem to be the king of all cars.

Better question would be....how ugly would it get if they put the new Boss up against the M3? :smokin:

That was a cool vid. I'm really impressed with the '11GT the more vids I see of it. I'm not saying $35K is too much (it is'nt) but if I could afford it I'd be checking out some Ford dealerships.

Not surprising coming from Motor Trend, Just the facts. Car and Driver will probably have the M3 destroying the GT.

Very nice report on the 2011 GT. Balance, power and overall great speed on the road track for $25K less than the M3. Kudo's to Ford, Job well done!!

watch how in the 1/4 mile you'll see the GT's brake lights come on....hmmm

I just watched the video and saw this as well, it might not have taken so many runs to get a winner if they didnt use the brakes mid run.

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

So basically if you just lowered the GT, look how much lower the M3 is, it would probably beat the M3 at the track. Worst case get some better shocks. I'm very impressed with the new GT. One thing I can't believe is the GT only has 255 wide tires. Is there a 275 option?

What counts for me on stock v stock is the 1/4 mile performance. Mustang wins hands down.

All these reports, write-ups, critiques, comparisons, tests, and etc. on the new 5.0 are highly persuading me to go into debt with one of these :12: :mean!:

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

All you would need is tires for the mustang to win......

I think the mustang is the better car in every respect........It DID win! It even gets far better gas mileage than the M3! Has just as many technical doodads as the bmw and outperforms it in every other category!

markthenarc 08-25-2010 04:12 AM

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

Now play the dollar game.... 35k for a mustang GT and 50k for a BMW M3......Well lets mod the GT to fit the 50k price tag of the BMW and watch how bad the beating gets...Oh wait, that would be a GT500:smokin:. For 50k I know what I'd buy.

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

2011 M3 Base RWD 4-Dr Sedan V8 $55,400

2011 M3 Base RWD 2-Dr Convertible V8 $67,0502011

M3 Base RWD 2-Dr Coupe V8 $58,400

does not include a 400.00 ipod hook up lol or 550.00 extra for metalic paint
also has a 1300.00 gas guzzler tax

Now these are the BASE price

You will NEVER see a base car at a dealers lot
I was looking at a 11 339i coupe and by the time you got leather, auto
and a wheel upgrade your at 51k.......
too much for that car.................

Rumplemenz 08-25-2010 02:53 PM

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

I'd be happy to see a GT line up with a 335 coupe never less a M3. IMPRESSIVE

Fenixfire 08-25-2010 03:18 PM

Re: 2011 M3 vs 2011 Mustang GT

I still dont understand how motortrend picked the m3 to be in 1st over the mustang.......

Slalom....mustang won
lateral accelleration.......mustang won
60-0 braking distance......mustang won(with slightly smaller brakes and more weight!)
1/4 mile...........mustang won
Fuel efficiency..........mustang won
Roadtrack.........bmw won
Price...............mustang won(by alot!)

Hmmmmmm...........so the m3 wins one category and the mustang wins the other 6 categories and the m3 gets 1st place?

I didn't read the reports, write-ups, critiques, comparisons, test and etc. but I DID drive a new 5.0.

And now I am in debt. I love it.

Let me see if I can help explain it to you.

Motor Trend is a pathetic rag. It's not fit to read, you can get the same kind of "objective" reporting if you just read the ads or if you saved a tree and just went straight to the manufacturer's websites. Maybe I would wipe my backside with it if no toilet paper were avaiable. Maybe.

Did that help explain it to you?

:23: I definitely need to keep my distance from and Ford dealerships. It won't end pretty. Congrats on the buy though.
