Suspension wish list
Well, my 03 Mach basically had no suspension mods done to it by the original owner. He did swap out the uca and lca, both non-adj. I feel that I am starting with a bone stock suspension. I had a few different things on my 04 Mach, which I am wanting on this Mach. It just made it a lot more fun to drive.
I for sure am not looking at doing autocross or anything like that or a drag set up, but something just for fun on the street is all. Only suspension mod that I have done was an Eibach front sway bar. I got that from a barter deal for brush hogging a small part of some land. It was brand new and I honestly got a great deal with that. I will be picking up soon from another member on here some Eibach pro kit springs. I bought a adj rear sway bar and will be picking up both of those very soon. For future mods, I am planning on: -FLSC or Kenny Brown extreme subframe connector kit. -adj uca -stiffer rear sway bar (the adj one is just an add on) -shocks and struts. -bumpsteer kit and ball joints My list isn’t long, but should be fun once all of it is done. I’m sure I’ll add a couple other things, but that is what I’m wanting right now. ASh |
Re: Suspension wish list
I am in the same boat...time to do some suspension mods. Previous owner of mine did lowering springs and struts and it rides really really rough. Too rough for New England roads. The sway bars and control arms should be a good upgrade for you along with the shocks and struts. Really let you dial in the ride and alignment settings!
I spend a lot of time over on Maximum Motorsports website looking through their grip boxes and handling packages. I'd love to do a coilover package, and I'm sure it's worth it, but it ain't cheap. At that point when does it stop? Control arms, subframe, sway bars, subframe connectors....the list could be endless. Part of me wants to chip away at it over time and part of me wants to bit the bullet and just do it all in one shot. With the Procharger on there I definitely want brakes and suspension to get some love before I do any more engine upgrades though. |

While I could have made a long list of parts, I know that I do not need all the suspension upgrades found on all those different web sites. I am mainly doing many of the suspension mods I loved on my 04. I guess my suggestion would be figure out what you want out of the car, talk to these different shops and see what they say you need and then make your list and get those things. ASh |
Re: Suspension wish list
I'd love to go panhard and torque arm on mine. I'd be a little more apt to jump on it but the shop where I sent my rear end to have the tubes welded did me a "favor" and welded what they call street bracing to it and its probably gonna interfere with the torque arm mounting point

Re: Suspension wish list
My fear is that it'll take away just enough of the ride quality where I end up not driving it much. I admit, the older I get, the less I like rough rides lol. I currently only have Eibach Sportlines and Koni STR.T shocks & struts. I think the ride would improve with better shocks & struts, but I'm also curious if the Maximum Motorsports coilover conversion would improve it even more. I know it will handle the road better. The other thing I wanted to do was upgrade the rear to 31 spline to make it so I can play more freely at the drag strip on test and tune days. I want to keep it drivable so there's a median in there somewhere.

Re: Suspension wish list
I also want to add to my list.
Bumpsteer kit and ball joints (probably Steeda) ASh |
Re: Suspension wish list
When I rebuilt my suspension a few years back, I decided to go back to the stock spring rates and adjustable shocks/struts. The steeda sport springs were the ticket, with the illumina struts/shocks. I replaced the outer tie rods, the lower control arms (loaded) and the rear upper and lower arms.
final touch was the eibach sway bars. I don't race the car it is 100% street and honestly I like the ride, and the handling. On our rougher roads it is a little stiff, but not like a Saleen of our era would be. The sway bars allowed me to loosen up the front struts a bit more, taking them back from 4-3. if the car were a track-day car, drag-car etc, I would more than likely go a bit more radical...but...I have complete confidence in the set up. the car goes where I point it, has excellent balance, and the feedback is great. |
Re: Suspension wish list
Well with deep thought, I have decided to do a few more outside mods, then move onto suspension.
I'll be doing new cobra R rims (gunmetal) and also a couple other things, then move onto suspension. ASh |
Re: Suspension wish list
I went with an 03 IRS, diff cover and brace, other than that it's all stock!
Good enough to hold 10.0 ET's ( auto Car)!! The ride and handling vs the live axle is noticeable instantly! |

My plan is IRS swap with a 00R suspension kit upgrade. If that’s not enough then a bushing kit upgrade.
Pick your poison. |

Re: Suspension wish list
As stated, I just ordered 2 17x9 gunmetal 95 cobra R rims. $280 shipped. I'll get these put on soon after they get here, have them put on the driver side first. I'll order the other two soon and then how them put on.
Then the fun of selling the old ones. Will be keeping the Cobra R center caps. ASh |
Re: Suspension wish list
I also picked up Sat the Eibach pro kit springs and also the adj rear sway bar. I don't know how soon I'll get them installed, but I figure it won't be long and i'll get them installed.
