Re: how to stop belt slip

You can try a new tensioner and try a belt that's an inch shorter. I'm really surprised it slips @ only 9 PSI though.

Now that's funny. 23-24 lbs. of boost here on the street and zero belt slip. And no waiting 10 minutes for the power to come on.

Re: how to stop belt slip

Too small of a blower pulley can cause the slippage. There are several options out there. You can go with an Reichad Racing pulley (http://www.reichardracing.com/pulleys.php ), an 8 rib setup (but this means all pulleys will need changed out), I remember seeing a manual belt tensioner in here, there is also a member who ran a cog setup (Linemup), or even a larger crank pulley and going back to the 4.0 pulley on the head unit. The issue is the lack of belt wrap around that small s/c pulley.

And to all the KB lovers out there who insist on bashing us centi guys, ask us about the effects of heat soak on our systems vs yours. Yeah I know the near instant boost/torque may be a kick in the ars down low, but the centi's pull on the big end like you wont see.

I love my centi, but heh, thats me.

all kidding aside....i love this arguement but if i had an f1a running 25psi you would be on crack if you dont think id be door to door with you if not eating you alive....you couldnt break 500 with 9psi....

but again i dont have an f1a so i still loose and i will always give you credit 700rw is 700rw whatever way you look at it....

i already have the iw crank on....i think im going to just buy a 3.8....this will just move my power band up and i should loose the slip...cheap fix until the bigger blower is bought

no everyones situation is differant.....this seems to be the limit for pullying a p1sc... 3.8 unfortunately seems to be the smallest you can go.

Re: how to stop belt slip

The problem lies between the alternator and PS pump.
I made a crude fix for such a problem a while ago and is still on the customers car with zero issues.
I know Lethal Performance was making an adjustable piece similar to mine but I think they lost interest in it. Might want to give them a call.

no kidding but tell me how you are going to do that besides getting a bigger crank or blower pulley....theres no more room....

Re: how to stop belt slip

Ls1 killer, not to beat a dead horse, But, this is exactly what we told you would happen with the P1. You are going to get "belt slip", unless you run a 4" or larger pulley. If you are running cams and a port/polish on the heads, you will never see over 10lbs with the P1. I know I tried, I'm 3 years ahead of you on this one. My solution to the whole matter was to switch to a KB. I even went the whole 8 rib and IW crank, I STILL got belt slip with the P1. But, to each his own.

Re: how to stop belt slip

Belt wrap is good, but belt TENSION is better.
Flame away

If you want to alleviate most if not all of your belt slip, get a 98 Cobra timing cover with the good 3 bolt steel tensioner and the corresponding blower bracket. With 6 ribs and this timing cover, 18psi
(or more) is doable

It may help but its not the cure . Especially on a manual car . I put so much tension on my set-up that i split the rib right up the grooves on a brand new belt . With all that belt you cant help to get slip . Most of you have graphs from the tuner ask him for the datalog . You can see it when it starts . Its the nature of the beast . Yes it sux . Im the first and defenitely not the last to say it .

Cog it FTW !

Honestly i think between the 8 rib and a tensioner and some shims should just about solve all of your issues .
