Pros/Cons of tapping pan vs self-lubricating?

What are some pros and cons of both methods of getting oil through the unit?

Re: Pros/Cons of tapping pan vs self-lubricating?

Pros of tapping:
Change your blower oil at the same time you change your motor oil.
Runs cooler
More reliable (less seal issues)
Cons:
More initial work

Pros of contained:
Easier to install
Cons:
Have more seal issues
For pussies

with tapping the pan isnt there the possibility that if something goes south in the blower itll send pieces parts into the oil system of the motor and damage it and vice versa?

I would think if your blower went south, you'd notice and turn your car off before anything like that happened. Even then, the chances are slim.

if it helps ya any i was in similar situation very recently and now that ive finally completed the job im glad i went with a V2 and tapped the pan. Its an extremely easy job (just be patient and pack tap with grease) and i'd much rather have the head unit be lubricated by the engine oil. I've never heard of anything being introduced down the oil feed line from blower failure but i could be wrong....if its being properly lubricated a problem like that should be extremely rare right?
