Fords Gas gauge suck!! - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

I had the same problem in my 97-tbird, our gas suck their always off! first it shows that i have a 1/4 tank left then 10 miles later its down to like an 1/8 The only time when its really accurate is when it full LOL. How much gas do we have left when the light goes on?

From experiance about 1 1/2 to 2 gallons left in the tank when the light comes on.

I have other things I don't like but my gas gauge seems perfect.

It's not just Ford. My '89 Trans Am was the worst.

+1,The gas gauges in all my Fords(4) are all good.

Also if I tap it it tends to move SLIGHTLY to the + side

Its just the cheap ford quality

other then that I lover my mach

My 03 Taurus does the same thing. It's never right on. Kinda jumps around a bit, but it's right on when it's either full or empty. In between it's anyone's guess.

Now that's pretty funny. All joking aside, I've noticed that with all the Ford's I've owned over the years, If I got say 300 miles to a tankfull, that the first half would last 200 miles and the second half about a hundred miles. Not a big deal, but sort of an annoyance.

thats exactly how mine is, the first half of the tank lasts for about 2/3 of the gas and teh last half goes really quickly
