Unhappy Almost lost another Mach

Well I made the mistake of letting my back tires get too bald and when you mix that with wet weather the Mach almost had an appointment with a gardrail. I was traveling down I-20 when it hydroplained and spun off the road right between a gaurdrail and a sign. I got very lucky and so did the car, it could have been real bad. More than abything I'm mad at myself for putting off getting new tires.

I ripped off the chin spoiler and the air dam and as you can tell its going to need a new front bumper as well. I also had to pull out an entire yard worth of mud and grass out from underneath it. I'm thinking about replacing it with an 01 cobra bumper.

You're lucky.
It could have turned out like my sister in Texas.

Her and her husband both survived.

I was reall lucky because when it spun out I had the cruise set somewhere between 65 and 70.

Re: Almost lost another Mach

Yea I from midland, but I living in DFW for school right now. I was actually in Midland visiting my parents and it happened in Sweetwater on the way back to DFW.

Traction control was on, which is why I'm assuming it hydropaned, because I had no time to react faster then I knew it I went from driving straight to spinning off the road and through the bar ditch.

I remember that thread. That looked like a horrific accident. I'm still surprised they both survived.

Re: Almost lost another Mach

glad you are ok but word to the wise.. NEVER have you cruise control on in wet weather... I learned this in a Jeep plus it's what I've been told by many people.

Re: Almost lost another Mach

Time for a Cobra bumper? I was rear ended, not hard but enough to crack my bumper, I know you guys aren't fan of v6 bumpers but that's what I put on. With my 335/35/17 tires it looks good. www.msnusers.com/2004mach1

I think they teach that in driver's ed but people tend to forget. It's also not a good idea to have it on at night.
Glad the Mach is alright. Good excuse to change bumpers now if you want.
