cleaning valve covers

hey im about to clean my valve covers and i noticed where the resonator/milkjug was on the airbox, it was rubbing on the valve cover and a shiny surface is showing rather than the dull silver from the rest of the valve cover. could i just scuff the whole valve cover to match that shiny surface?

Re: cleaning valve covers

I took the jug off and got a custom mach 1 plug for mine, that was before I added a CAI. Don't know if they even sell it any more.

I have a feeling you'll give up polishing them yourself. The JUG has been rubbing for a long time on one little spot. You my have to have them professionally done. That's a lot of WORK. You can do it yourself, but you may not like the results. You didn't say if they were BLACK or Aluminum finished covers. '03 or '04?

Re: cleaning valve covers

I gave up on polishing mine and had them powdercoated silver. Much easier to take care of,
Jeff
