Where's your happy place?
Anyone have any publicly appropriate to share hobbies or activities?
(This is a car forum, so there's that...) I picked up a new (PC) joystick a couple of months ago and have been playing with Microsoft's new 2020 Flight Simulator lately, but kinda honestly already getting bored with it. My true passion is RC airplanes... But between work and the wind kinda lucky if I get to the airfield once every two weeks anymore. Really think I'm turning into Clint Eastwood in the movie Gran Torino. _ |

Re: Where's your happy place?
Into cars and drag racing. My kids have a few projects going. 1983 Cutlass Supreme they hope goes into the low 9's in the 1/4 mile. The other purchased a 4 door 64 Nova we plan to make into a stick shift and place a fuel injected 4.8 liter LS motor in it. We did Drag Week in 2019 with a 1967 Chevelle I drove to high school in 1990. That car received a junkyard 5.3 LS and a turbo with a 4L80E overdrive automatic transmission. We completed the week and since drove it to LS Fest in Kentucky an 800 mile trip one way. The car looks junk but that's the way we like it.
A video of when we had the car tuned by a guy who calls himself the Sloppy Mechanic. https://youtu.be/9Yq9Q47JD_w At Island Dragway in NJ we see a group of RC airplane guys (like a club) fly planes near the track, we watch them occasionally while waiting to race. Outside of racing I like freshwater fishing with my kids have a 16 aluminum foot bass boat. My kids have some RC trucks that are very fast. Think they cost about $400. each and my one son keeps crashing the thing and having to shell out a few bucks to fix it, he's the one that is jumping stuff and doing tricks. My other son is bit more conservative on braking his stuff.. They've been asking me to get one...

Pretty much all things Mustang of course. Fishing and Model railroading are the two biggest other-than mustang passions...And Of course the kids...

Re: Where's your happy place?
I'd say for me, it's prepping the car for a show, then maybe watching TV lol. The last two years, practically every time I wash my Mach, it's like I was getting her ready for a show. I even enjoy detailing my wife's 2019 Rav4 lol, so maybe detailing my cars is number two, and then TV.
