Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
Big thank you for this write up! When I end pulling my tranny for a new clutch, this cooling mod will be getting done at the same time! Great jobs explaining and photos to boot.
I agree with the previous post about this becoming a sticky. Dang good stuff right here!

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
very good write up and thanks for taking the time.
this mod is on my to do list. I just had both heads replaced and #7 piston. Now I wish I had them install this mod while the engine was out. now I need to wait for the clutch to go. Thanks again!!

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
I agree, and since I figured out I could do that, well it is sticky now.

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
Hey MLP,
Im getting ready to do this mod this weekend and wanted to know if you took out any restrictors that go to the heater or did you leave both of them in. Anyone else has comments or suggestions about that? M1M or anybody else who have done this. |

I left them in......I did not think it was a good idea to alter the return flow. All is well and the car does run cooler. It's a no brainer. If you order one of these...tell them your from the Mach 1 Registry and Dave Davis sent you.....he may hook you up. |

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
take the rear trans mount out.....let the trans down on the jack till it lowers it as low as possible while holding it up......use long extensions and a swivel
on the end. Have someone hold a light.....approach from the tail.....with extensions. 13mm . I put black tape on the swivel to limit its movement. |

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
Oh, and what do they do and what are the advantages/disadvantages of taking them out vs. leaving them in?

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
Im doing this mod tomorrow while exchanging the clutch.. I printed everything out, looks pretty straight forward, Nice Write-Up!!
Id like to take out the EGR permanently at the same time (i have the block offs for both ends).. Is blocking off the EGR without turning it off in the tune gonna be a problem?? I realize im prolly gonna get a check engine lite till i have it turned off by my tuner but in the meantime is it gonna be a problem besides the CE lite im gonna have??

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
Yea i knows that, i was really windering about those other "things" bolted to the lid with the vacuum lines & connectors ill be ripping out in a couple minutes.. Ive already ripped out & capped off the EGR tube & am looking at removing the rest of the little pieces that the vacuum lines went to.. Obviously those arent gonna be operational anymore..

Re: LDC Cooling mod install.
Pretty easy mod to do with these instructions!! I never even looked at the directions that came with the cooling mod.. I thought if i got in trouble i might hafta look over at the other directions, but never did. These instructions & pictures MyLittlePony built are just about perfect!
The hardest part for me was tapping in the new black metal junction piece on the drivers side freeze plug.. Sum-beitch didnt wanna go in for sheit & its a tougher spot then the other side for some freaky reason.. Its closer to the floor boards on that side & gets in the way more
