Another vote for Mobil 1 and Motorcraft Filters.

Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20 for me with Motorcraft oil filter. Mobil 1 and Mobil 1EP created more engine noise for me on startup. Amsoil XL 5w-20 and Pennzoil Platinum are quieter. I go with the Pennzoil due to it being cheaper than the Amsoil.

Not lazy...you just like to gamble. It is only a matter of time some kind of residual damage will be done to your car like scratching a fender or bumper at the dealership.

I use motorcraft 5w30 and motorcraft filter... I pulled to motor out a while back to do a head gasket change and looked at everything and it looked like a brand new motor. Very good oil.

Possibly, but I've seen plenty of people get the same damage in a parking lot.

Regarding the topic, I have used Motorcraft 5W-20 and filters from the dealership, with the oil changed every 3000 miles. This car was a daily driver for 4 years. If I had to do it again, I would change the interval to 5000 miles.

castrol gtx 5w-20 and fram filter here. changed every 3-4k miles...never over 4k though.

I used Royal Purple for the first 5 years and then switched to Mobil 1 as I could not find RP in my area at that time.
I am not sure if it was mental or physical but I found the Mach was a little low on oil when using the Mobil 1 and it would puff a bit on start up, so I went back to RP.
Did cams last Apr and put Royal Purple in again and then switched it out to Castrol Syntec to give that a try as I had heard/read good things about it.

Car ran great all summer and did not use a drop of oil even with me beating on it at the track every other week.
Right now the Mach is going to stay with Castrol Syntec as I have no complaints with it.
I really think as long as you change you oil regularly and use the reccommended weight all will be fine.
I have always used 5w20.

I've been using RP 5w30 and a motorcraft filter. Been changing at 3k but decided to move to 5k from now on. I rarely beat on the car and I don't think synthetic oil really needs to be changed that often.
