Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
Heres how the cool white bulbs look in the center console.
They are a lot brighter than the stock bulbs, but they match the other lights in the center so they don't look out of place to me.

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
Just saw this thread yesterday and I had an idea, blue cellophane wrap! It actually looks amazing, I tried to take a pic but my phone hates me. I will try to post a pic later. It only cost $3 and it looks like I replaced the lights with blue bulbs. It's cheap and I recommend it.

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
Anybody know where to get the "warm white" ones for the gauge cluster now? That website is only showing cool white in 74-xHP3?

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
looks like they still have them, the square for it is right next to the cool white but looks like pale yellow.

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
So i got the warm whites installed but they seem kinda blue. Dont match the autometer sport comp II whites at all really. Wonder if i replace the autometers with a cool white if it will match better? Anyone know the autometer led # or a how to?

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
Autometer says that the leds for the sport comp IIs are the micro type built directly into the control board of the gauges, so you cant just unplug them and replace them. Any ideas how i can make this match better? May a light blue tint to the leds with a marker or something?

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
Doing this today with the warm whites...green looks good also since it matches all other lighting. Just seems the red "hi low" or redline marking doesn't show??

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
Super easy being no speedo cable to unhook(fox guy here, lol), no need to remove the white backer. I used a pick and pushed the pins closer together in the socket in all before inserting the bulb. All worked first try.
Only issue tho, is i'm getting bleed thru into the odometer...i'm noticing in these pics you have it stock and after the install. I didn't notice it with factory bulbs. Anyone else? |

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
No bleed through here, probably something inside the cluster going on.
I found out why my warm whites were blue, the cluster cover has a blue tint to it. I used a dremel to remove the blue to see what it would look like: Still doest match the sport comp II autometers very well, i may try the cool white ones now just to see how it does with out the blue film on the cluster cover. |

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
So i finally got it right and went with the cool whites with blue tint removed from the gauges face per my post above, matches the sport comp II leds perfect.

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
^^^Nice. This is a must for me since I installed 3 Autometer gages and changed the weak a** bulbs to warm white LED. I will get these
http://www.superbrightleds.com/searc...ducts/74-xHP3/ My question is the author of the thread said said early on you need 5, but looking at dash I see 6 areas (fuel, temp, battery, oil, tach, speedometer), you remeber how many of these bulbs you ordered??

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
See post #87 above, cool whites with blue removed from cluster cover matches auto meters perfect. Warm white was different than the auto meters for me, they were still white just didn't match good.

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
I still have mine but havent done it yet, I put a gage pod on steering column and not thinking put a dab of crazy glue...anyway pics when done with yours, maybe I will work on this my next days off (along with freakin blower idler).
I am still kinda confused about the blue tint on gage cluster thing reported above. So all our gage cluster have a blue tint? Poster says used a dremel to remove, more specific please, a dremel has like a gazillion attachments, was it ground off?? Is the blue tint on BACK of gage cluster??

Re: How to: LED gauge install (white like stock, not blue)
I ordered one orange color. to see what it looks like. its more RED than orange, I may try a yellow one to see if it may bring out more orange like. if not, i will just do the cool white. Mach 1 are the only ones that I see come with the white gauges stock so thats cool enough. just needs to be brighter.
