Japanese Rims

Has anyone tried fitting japanese rims on their car? WedsSport's SA-70 is available in gold, looks like an STI rim and fits. I think the gold/azure would look really good.

Re: Japanese Rims

I'm guessing you saw them for closeout on Tirerack? I did too. If you like the color they would be one of the better wheel choices you can make at 19lbs for a 18" wheel. The look would be subjective... I'm personally not so sure about the gold rims.

Re: Japanese Rims

Haha, everyone's knocking this idea except the road racer....I like the idea of saving 6lbs per wheel over something like a bullitt or FR500.

Who knows, with the mach's stock 4x4 ride height and the blue/ gold combo I could make myself an American WRC car.....

Ha! Yeah, you're right. I'm good at that. I totally understand less weight for the wheels, but i think it's primarily the gold that got me going. Hehe, sorry 'bout that!

Re: Japanese Rims

It could actually look pretty good, they're bronze not actually gold, I think it would give it a racey look. BUT, you're guaranteed to hear a lot of sh*t about them from the Mustang crowd. So that's something to consider, whether or not you care what people will think and say.

There are so many cool wheel choices out there ( Cobra R's, bullitts, Mach deep dish, etc), I don't see why anyone would want to go with gold rice wheels. Not wanting rice on your Mach is not being closed minded. It's called having good taste.

Re: Japanese Rims

Yeah lightweight race wheels are so rice! Why would you want them when you could have heavy made in china replica wheels???

Re: Japanese Rims

I'm sure that if you look you can find American made lightweight race wheels that dont look like they're straight out of the movie Fast & Furious.

Re: Japanese Rims

Everyones got an opinion....you know, kinda like...well, you know.

Personally, I think whatever wheels YOU like are the ones you should get, at least until someone else is going to fork over the money to pay for them.

Re: Japanese Rims

OH NO someone wants to be out of the box with their wheel choice and people want to get out the stake and burn them on it

granted gold may not be the best color..well on certain colors I could see it

But I will put $$ down that the japanese build better wheels that a lot of american companies

It's your car man do what you want, but if you want light wheels that no one will grille you for Steeda makes ones called Ultra Lites.

http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheel..._brz_ci3_l.jpg this is the SA-70

http://www.car8.com/wheelsland/2_96698.jpg

It's funny how divided people seem to be over this. Even steeda ultra lites are 22-23lbs, they pretty much split the difference between replica wheels and the SA-70s.

I wish I knew how to put these on the car in photoshop.

It's a tough call. The wheels look good, nothing ricey about them at all IMO, the color is a tough one though.

Hopefully Bullitt784 doesn't mind that I used his car for this. Just a quickie but you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Those look nice...I wish the blue accent in the wheels stood out some more. Also, do they make those in black, with the blue?
