Traction control

The mach did a weird thing last night while playing around with a late 90's cobra. I went to 4th hard and the car layed down on me and the green TC light came on for about 10 sec. But I didnt feel a hint of wheelspin. Needless to say the cobra tookoff. Anybody else had the TC activate in 4th?

Re: Traction control

Never came on for me in 4th. You must have hit something on the road that would cause the tires to spin.

All I can say that if the TC came on, it was a good thing. Sometimes thing happen so fast, you're in the woods before you know it.

Re: Traction control

I've had it happen to me a couple times. Kinda scary when it happens while you're not expecting it at all.

Re: Traction control

Never had that happen to me... Its kinda confusing. When you first start the engine the traction control will come on. You must push the TC button to disengage the system and the light will come on and eluminate the off indication. Some people may mistake the light for the system to be on and push the button again while the light goes off thinking that they just turned off the system. Just a mental note to remember.

Re: Traction control

Actually I think it was just cold tires on cold pavement with really good air. There is very rarely anything spilt on that portion of the road and it was clean.

Re: Traction control

Never a problem for me as it is permenately turned off thru my tuner.
IMHO Ford would have been better off to leave it off the car period. Kinda useless.

I dont think its useless, but Ford should have made it so you could turn it on and off when you so desire and not have it come on automatically when you turn the engine on. Let the driver decide when he or she should turn it on and off acording to the road conditions. When i start the engine, i usually turn it off right away cause most of the time, i dont really need it, unless its raining outside.

I agree 100%. But I can understand that from a safety standpoint, they would prefer that we turn it off to not need it, as opposed to remembering to turn it on when we do. That having been said, I also had my tuner turn it off. My Mach is not my DD, so in rain or snow it never leaves the garage.

That is was one of the first mods i did. Diablosport- Disable Traction Control, LOL. I hate traction control systems. Nothing like going WOT and then the car cuts power.
