SEMA, will you be there?

I will be there Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Any pointers? Not really looking for anything specific, just want to get some ideas for future projects.

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

Bring comfortable shoes! You can walk all three days and not see everything. I've been three times and am ready to go back. Be sure to check out the Ford display (main floor, usually the largest display there). Confirmed is a '68 Bullitt, an '01 Bullitt...and maybe a future surprise...
The feature car this year will the Muscle Car as opposed to the usual single model feature, so you picked a good year to attend and be ready for many unveilings and surprises from other camps...

Don't you have to work in the automotive field to even get in the door?

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

Yes. It's not open to the general public, although with so many poeple in the field it gets pretty packed, still it's not that hard to get a pass. You do have to pay good money to get in still, but for most of us who go the shops usually pick up the tab. Although most people get there early and stay two or three days, you can actually see more on the last day due to the smaller crowds, the downside is that most freebies or celebs are long gone...

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

Yes, I will be taking a pair of comfortable shoes. This is my first time as well. I have a new job, I am now a mechanic and will be going with the shop owner.

We will be traveling from Tucson Tuesday morning in a very nice RV that we will stay in. Going to be a great trip.

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

What kind of stuff are searching out? The APAA show is the smaller brother of SEMA but held at the same time. IT usually showcases many shop products, unlike SEMA which shows wheels, tires, blowers, shifters, and everythign else you can bolt onto a car.

While you're there, you should not only check out some of the casinos on the strip but also the Freemont Street Experience, there should also be a free shuttle to the Shelby American facility from the show and my personal favorite, the Star Trek Experience (held at the Hilton right next to the Convention Center). Mostly, have fun!!!

Agree, Freemonst St experience is great, some good buskers there too. Shelby American is a must, hallowed turf for sure, no cameras allowed out the back but you do get to sign your name on the wall (Kilroy wus here)Makes me want to jump on a plane and get there. Enjoy Sema.

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

Great info guys.

added to list:

Freemont St experience

Shelby American facility

Maybe a casino to play a few hands of poker or a couple of pulls on the one armed bandit.

My wife will not be with me so I do not know where the gambling money will come from, lol.

Not anything really, just going for the experience itself. My next project will be a kit 427 AC Cobra. That should start in about 10 years, lol.

Yes mate, not much space left on the wall though. The best part was meeting a fellow 03 Macher there by tha name of Tom, hell of a nice guy, we have the same specs on our machs red 03's manuals with iup. We have kept in touch, unfortunately Tom has been fighting a health problem, but is now on the mend. On another note I am looking to buy a Falcon BA Xr6 as a daily runner will let you know how I go. keep well.

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

Cool stuff! Keep me posted on the BA Falcon hunt. Keeping it stock or gonna mod it? I've seen some GT BAs with shakers on them...it looks really good. Ran into a guy who had an XB Ute' in the states, and in talking to him it turns out he has an Option 97 XC Cobra. I was shocked! One day...

Probably keep it stock, the turbo V6 is reported to be as grunty as the v8 in tests. Also with 2 mustangs and a 3.4 v6 Toyota 4wd to run probably keep the daily runer as a 6...But you never know. we have Our house up for sale and going to auction this Saturday so will see what we get for it maybe we will get more than expected and an XR 8 is a possibility. The prices of these beasts are certainly dropping here due to the petrol price hike. Holden has just put out a new model the VE, not bad looking but of course I have to DIS the Holden being a good Ford man..its my duty.

BTW, the BA with the shaker is a Herrod, have only seen a couple here, would be great to get one, just love those shakers!!!

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

The new Holden does look pretty good, but you'd never find one in my driveway. The hood blister on the BA looks a lot like the one on the Mach 1, and I think that's why the shaker looks so good on the Falcon. I've often wonderd if the Boss 260 hood stripe would fit the Mach 1's hood blister?

One of the real estate agents marketing our house has an XR8 BA with the Boss 260 I will have a closer look at the hood decal when I see him on the weekend and get back to you with an opinion on that one.

Re: SEMA, will you be there?

You should be in good shape, Factory Five and Superformance are usually there showing their wears. Can't wait to hear you impressions of the show. You said you're staying in an RV, is that going to be at the grounds or in an RV park? The biggest gripe every year at the show is the transportation issue (kinda ironic!) especially if you're using a taxi. Forget driving. The best way is a bus from one of the resorts and now the monorail is in service.
