Heard what sounds like hot air when I close the door after getting out of my car? - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

When I get out of my car sometimes I notice when I close the door that it makes a quick hiss sound almost like the door closing forces air out from under the front fenders? Was wondering if anyone noticed this on their cars or what it could be. I didnt notice it until after my exhaust was installed a day or 2 later? Any ideas ... thanks. Maybe I need to check all the fluids?

I Have No Clue What That Is But My 94 Gt Had It, My 99 Gt Convertible Had It, And My Mach Has It. Im Sure Its Nothing To Be Concerned About Though.

I think it has something to do with the heater/ac box and the flapper doors inside. Like the cabin pressure from closing the door forces it open momentarily.

I think whats happening is your running the A/C.When you shut the door it rattles the car causing moisture from the A/c to drip and hit the exhaust on the passenger side.Making a hissing or sizzling sound.

nope ... i dont use my ac. I use windows open lol unless its really hot and unbearable? Its def hot air from around the hood area being forced out quickly for a brief second. I heard it when i closed the door then i did it a few more times and the same sound ... like it got too hot under there or sumtin. Oh well. Im more concerned with my **** shifter being funny again now to worry about that ... 3rd gear being a **** virgin and wont let me lol.

When you shut the door you're causing condensation from the A/C to land on a hot part of the engine or exhaust causing a hiss.

ive had same problem and someone told me that it was just the air comming out of the compartment, to test it try rolling down windows and shut the door, it solved my problem. (well it still does it when i roll the windows up and shut the door,but i know its nothing bad)

It has to be condensation from the AC plenum drain dripping on the hot exhaust.

its no big deal as long as nothing breaks i think its just hot air buildup under the hood. Its not ac leaking because I DONT USE the ac in my car. and sounds like hot air being forced out from front fenders ... not the back of the car not the rear exhaust? We can kill this thread now lol im guessing its nothing to worry about. I gotta do an oil change soon ... ill check all fluids are ok and car isnt overheating or nutn and i should be ok.

Mine does it but it's like everyone has said, it's condensation from the A/C. It has a "sizzle" sound.

But...I also was wondering about the hot air. How does hot air sound different from cool air? If it's something that sounds "hot" then it's like we said, A/C condensation..... or some other liquid...... dropping onto the hot exhaust. Air sounds like air, hot, cold or whatever as far as I know.
