Re: Rear turbos
id stick with the HPP, HP kits....
rear mounted turbos lose a crap load of power due to how far the exhaust gasses have to flow.

Re: Rear turbos
I would stick with one large single turbo due to drain back issues.

swervo is running the HP kit @7psi with the stock bottom. he makes around 470rwhp if im not mistaken. but if you wanna run more boost then that (or you don't wanna gamble boosting the stock bottom) then forged rods and pistons are required.

Re: Rear turbos
roughly 4-5 grand total(might be high for some areas) for full installation of the turbo's and installation of the forged rotating assembly. your honestly looking at a $12,0000 - $14,000 job if you want to do it right the first time.

Re: Rear turbos
Still is a gamble. Sure, the stockers have gotten a number of people really far, but with the power levels most people are putting down on stock internals, the motor is not going to live forever. If you boost it, just know that the long term survival is a crap shoot. You've got to pay to play.

Re: Rear turbos
What about them? They have forged internals from the factory, while not the best things in the world, they are designed to handle boost unlike our motors. Ford did things right IMHO when it comes to the cobra, then again, it also carried a much higher price tag.

Re: Rear turbos
Just replace the internals and I would stroke it to a 5.0

Re: Rear turbos
Acutally thats not ture. If you look up sts they can tell you all about it. I actually know a guy that has twins in the rear. The air stays so cold because of how far it travels that you only lose about 1 psi of boost. And there no real difference in turbo lag. If you get a turbo hellion is a great brand as well

Re: Rear turbos
Actually it is kinda true but doesn't seem to be a huge problem. The main problem is getting oil to/from the turbos. If the oiling system isn't dialed in you can get oil coming out of the exhaust.

Re: Rear turbos
A local guy here is running the sts turbos on his 2000 gt and with 18lbs, he put down 719rwhp and 652rwtq. It is quite impressive. During the dyno tune, the car looked like it was going to jump off the dyno when the full boost kicked in and it was fully strapped down....

Re: Rear turbos
STS can make you a custom kit for our cars....they are cheaper than HP. BUT because it's custom you or whoever is doing the install better know what they are doing.
