Re: ram air or true cold air?

True Cold Air....
but honestly they are not gonna be all that different! Just depends on if you want to use the Shaker or not.

If they offered a Carbon fiber True Cold Air I'd be all over it!

Re: ram air or true cold air?

Get the one that you think looks the best. You wont see much of diff in power between the two .

Re: ram air or true cold air?

Once the car is in motion, the rai will win every time over the cai. and I'm not talking about the fuggin shaker hook-up being the reason either.

The truth, and spend the extra money on something worth the money, like gears.

The stock Mach intake with a K&N is better than anything else when price is factored in.

Re: ram air or true cold air?

Do what I did, find a used JLT RAI for cheap and call it a day. The RAI when moving should work better. It has less bends.

Re: ram air or true cold air?

Less bends and shorter piping is the best. The biggest/longest filter (without sucking in hot air) will make the most power.

Re: ram air or true cold air?

OR You can do what I did. I made my own with aluminum straight tubes and elbows from Pep Boys and FERNCO plumbing couplings. I used the stock airbox with the snorkle removed and a drop in K&N. Looks really good and is a little shorter than the stock one with fewer bends. I have had 2 different tuners and 5 differrent shops tell me that the air is in the intake tube for such a short amount of time that it doesn't have a chance to heat up so it really doesn't make that much difference.

t'is true.

The stock tube is not a restriction to making power on a stock shortblock engine so the RAI and CAI will provide no power gain. They do look better though.

I went with RAI because my brother's CAI has this nasty habit of drinking rain water like a straw.

Sent from my Evo
