Smile 31,000 miles: Extented Warranty? Yes or No

Help guys! I trust your judgements.(Oh, s**T.) My stock 03 has about 2,000 or so mile left on my 3/36. I plan on keeping the car stock. I have had the 1-2 issues, throwout bearings... clutch issues that a lot of us have had. The dealer who fixed fixed my car last seems to have done a good job. The car shifts fine and is strong. I asked them about extending my warrant on my last oil change visit. The guy that I spoke with seemed lost about what all he could do but he said something about 1900.00 dollars for 5 year 50,000 mile deal. I told him I would get back with him. I have searched and have read the thread here about Ford's ESP plans. What do you guys think? My wife says no need. I don't go to the track and i take care of the car. I worry that next winter I will not be able to shift the car? Extended warranty, yea or no? Thanks! You guys (girls) are the best! Peace! Should I at least have my compression checked before 3/36 I mean you know I could have the tick? Rant off!

Shop around you can find better and cheaper extended warrenty coverage than the dealership can offer. I for one have never had extended warrenty coverage. Never had any major problems with any vehicle that I have owend even after the warrenty ran out.

Extended warranty?
Definitely.
Be sure to get Ford ESP, and accept no substitutes.
DO NOT get some aftermarket warranty.
I worked at Ford / LM dealerships for 20 years, plus a 5 year stint at Ford product development, and Ford ESP will save your butt some day.
Aftermarket warranty?
Good chance you'll be very sorry, and I do not wish that on anyone.

Hey Blue....I guess you're glad the Open is gone too. We have a year left on our warranty(bought in June 03) and I can say with certainty that we will be getting an ESP. I will probably buy it through a website though. I think B.S. Ford quotes a little high on their warranties, but I do like their service deptartment. I think I saw your car a few weeks ago on Hwy 22 near the airport. I think it is only a matter of time before the other Azure blue down here ends up wrapped around a pole. I always see her when I'm not in my patrol vehicle.

Never buy them just save that amount in a bank account thats what I do and I use it for the down payment for my next car. I have seen may get burned when the dealer doesn't honor the warranty.

FYI, I paid 1300.00 for a Ford ESP 6/60,000. Don't pay 1900, its to much.

PS, the clutch disk, throwout bearing and pressure plate are wear items and not covered on the ESP, however the HEAD TICK is!!

Just a money grab IMHO. I have to fight to get everything fixed these days... They seem to be getting VERY cheap and not want to fix anything lately.

Re: 31,000 miles: Extented Warranty? Yes or No

Check out this tread, and go to the Ford warranty site for great prices. I have a local dealer that even beat the price on the site.

http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/...ad.php?t=35714

The warrenty is a good idea, seeing that you plan on keeping it stock. It is also a great selling point, if you feel the need to sell. They have 4 different levels of warrenty plans.

get all the tsb's checked that you can before the warranty runs out
but i still say get the ford extended warranty if you plan on keeping the car.
if you are not going to keep the mach1 that long save your money

Re: 31,000 miles: Extented Warranty? Yes or No

I agree. If you're not planning to mod it, get the warranty. I paid $1295 for mine. Little expensive but this is what I got:

EXTENDED COVERAGES:
USA 2004 NEW 60/100,000 PREMIUMCARE W/ROADSIDE ASSIST
STANDARD DEDUCTIBLE: 50 USD
OWNER NAME: STEPHEN LEWIS
OPTIONS:
EXPIRATION DATE: 08/02/2009
DISTANCE: 100,000
RENTAL: 28 UP TO 10 DAYS
TOWING: 0 USD
CONTRACT SOLD BY: USA 01492
ESP CONTRACT START DATE: 08/02/2004

Thank you Donna for the Oasis report. Bummer is, I've started mod'n and am worried some, if not all of that warranty will be void. Not so much a worry, but if it is, it is.

Every car I've ever owned, minus my '98 Accord, which I kept for 165,000 miles, used the extended warranty. But ultimately, it's your decision. Do yourself a favor though, call several dealers and get their prices. 1 dealer wanted $1800 and was telling me THAT was on sale!!! What a joke!
