Cam Sproket Bolts

I have now broken my second cam sproket bolt. The first one went thru my valve cover and broke the power steering bracket too.... After talking to ARP about getting thier bolts, come to find out the Mach 1 was given a 10mm bolt where all others since 2001 are 12mm. They can barley handle the stock torque. My second bolt just sheered off and and spun the cam. So if you are adding HP and get the chance change the bolts, very expensive to keep fixing this and retiming motor

Re: Cam Sproket Bolts

so you are making 987 HP on stock cams? To correct what you said or was told incorrectly. All the stock cams after 01 (2V & 4V) use 10mm bolts. All aftermarket cams use the 12mm bolt.

Yes making that on stock cams. Was told by MMR and ARP that they stopped useing the 10mm bolts after 01, due to breaking. The mach still uses them I dont know why...Hey I am learning after I break something new each time

that's just bad info, as stated above all the factory cams us the smaller 10mm bolt and aftermarket cams require the older style 12mm bolt, which is the same part # as the crank bolt.....now, are you using the correct washer under the bolt head?
