Replacing P1 with F1

What can be reused from the P1 kit and what has to be changed? Can I use the same 3 core intercooler? Pipes?
Brackets?
Obviously I'd have to upgrade my fuel system.
Just looking as to what I won't need to replace. Thanks!

Everything is the same. Just swap head units.

Re: Replacing P1 with F1

How much is that going to cost if you don't mind me asking? Would you send in the P1, and pay extra or just keep the P1 and straight out buy the F1?

As far as I know there is no upgrade option from a P1 or D1 to a F1. You have to buy it outright...And I think the head unit is $2500.

Re: Replacing P1 with F1

Is there even any advantage to having a F1 without having a built motor? Just save some $$$ and get the D1....

That would be correct . Id start with the D-1 and pulley it down .
You will have to sell it outright to move up .

But the F1 is badazz ! Wont be easy or cheap .

But its badazz !

The F1s have a higher step up ratio...and will help reduce belt slip when you try to turn the boost up. Even with a 4.5" blower pulley...I think you will make at least 15lbs of boost. Might be too much for a stock setup.

That wont be that cheap either and will not produce nearly the HP .

The blower or the juice is the best and cheapest power available .

What are you looking to do upgrade ?

Go F1 then if you already have a built motor . Sell the P1 and go for it .

Re: Replacing P1 with F1

Sorry to bring back an old post from the dead... but I'm thinking about upping the P1 (intercooled) to an F1. Will ATI take back the P1 and send me an F1 for a discount? I found a post with someone else saying that it was $2,100 to upgrade from a P1 to an F1... $1,400 doesn't seem like a bad deal to get some killer HP (sell P1 then buy F1).

So, right now I have the Cobra tank/fuel assembly and 39# FI. To run 15psi and an F1, I would definitely need a built shortblock. I would imagine I'd also need some 60psi fuel injectors. Other than that I can't think of anything else that I would need.

Anyone have any ideas on the cost for the following or give recommendations?

1) F1 (~$1,400 - $2,100)
2) 60# injectors ~$300?
3) Built shortblock ~$3,000? (Or should I just get forged pistons / crank / rods / ARP studs and keep the block?) Looking for the best value here.
4) I imagine I would need to build-up my tranny a little bit, but that can be considered later.

Would like to be in the 525-600 rwhp range on 91 octane (if possible). Thanks to anyone that replies.

I've gone with a D-1/3.20 upgrade shooting for 20 lbs of boost and had to re-do my entire fuel system in the process, (GT pumps, larger/dual fuel lines etc.) Also, had to go with the racing by-pass valve which was just over $400.00.

Still working the quirks out...

Re: Replacing P1 with F1

I am interested in doing this too. I wonder if I should go F1 or if the D1 would be sufficient.

Those who are running the F1 (or a high boost D1) with built blocks, what is your CR? And do you always run higher octane, or do you run straight pump gas? I would not want to have to mix gas every time I fill up, but don't know if I can run a blower like the F1 without doing that.

My CR is 9.5:1. Do you think I could run an F1 on 91? I'm thinking not, as I haven't seen many people with that CR running more than 15lbs really on pump gas.

I doubt it seriously . Maybe you could but i wouldnt . As it is im running a stand alone set-up .

91 could be 89 for all you know . Its not worth it . Just remember the stock motor required 93 if im not mis-taken .

Im running 13 psi on the street and 23 psi at the track .

So for you to switch between your 13psi & 23 psi tunes, you need to swap a pulley right? Is that easier to do with the COG setup?

I have a 9.8:1 CR and will be running 15 PSI on pump gas and very conservative timing with my NOVI 2000. I'll run the same with C16 but with more timing.

No pulley swap required . It would be a pain .

Just plug my laptop in and its as simple as typing your name . Just a simple keystroke .

I actually have 3 tunes .

Street
Track
Track with the juice . Havnt used that one yet . YET ! Eventually .

I will adjust those depending on track conditions . I also have the baro option where it changes and adjusts the tune accordingly .

Re: Replacing P1 with F1

Really? I agree it would be a pain to swap pulley's. But I did not think you could change boost with just a tune. Interesting. I NEED to do this. Is there any more information regarding this you could share. It is a completely new concept to me, so I don't even know what questions to ask...
