Dyno and 1/4 mile gains after cut outs?

How much gain is there for cut outs installed between the stock back cats and the mufflers?

Re: Dyno and 1/4 mile gains after cut outs?

I just unbolted the cat back and took the pipes out of the way. Same as cut outs. I took the car for a drive. Seat of the pants it feels the same or slower. Small loss of low end and no top end gain. Cut outs on my set up seem to be a waste of time and money.

Re: Dyno and 1/4 mile gains after cut outs?

Also the car was pretty loud, about like a catless car w/ glasspacks. But the car sounded like crap, like an old truck with a bad exhaust leak. Don't waste your time with the cut outs. It's hard for me to believe these cars gain from exhaust mods at all if the car is stock. Do they?

I wouldn't imagine it being that benificial on an NA car but with a blower or turbo i'm sure there are gains to be had. Might pick up a 3-4 hp NA but you'd probalby lose the low end.

Re: Dyno and 1/4 mile gains after cut outs?

back to back results, on a 2V GT were 2-3 tenths better by removing catback on a mostly stock GT....auto, 3.73's.

I assume the same could be had with a Mach.

I dont think the times would improve much without a little more gear.

I have 3.55's and a bigger stall than you had stock and I felt no gain. That was seat of the pants though.
