2012 Boss or 2013 Boss (styling)

Even though I can't even imagine owning my own Boss for the next.. oh, 7 years, I think I like the '12 A LOT more than the way the '13 looks.

My favorite is still the black '12 LS...and any resemblance to the Batmobile is purely coincidence.

Re: 2012 Boss or 2013 Boss (styling)

I love the 2013. The painted roof line was a turn-off for me, as was the matching offset grill. However, if the wife said to buy a Boss and only the '12 was on the lot, then I would proudly drive the '12 home. The only offset roof color I like is when it is black, otherwise it would get a coverup, maybe vinyl.

The new styling is an improvement, and the fact the roof is not painted a different color and the 70's stripe theme is way better. You also have more color choices... Grabber Blue!

Re: 2012 Boss or 2013 Boss (styling)

I like many things about the 13, like reflective stripes, tail lights, track app in dash, but I don't care for the Shelby front end on a Boss, on a Shelby I like,
As for the roof being painted , it's grows on you to the point where it actually is a distinct cool feature making the Boss it's own appearance.
Oh and I Hate the 70s stripe, I've always loved the 69 C stripe..
Plus I like how the 2012 was strictly for performance , no extra amenities ,
But I like the 13 removable grill lights for more air..And the vented hood,

If I had a 2012, I would love it too! This is just like choosing between a 1969 or 70 Mach 1, both cool for different reasons.

I like that Black without the red!!! A LOT! The original just seemed garish to me...

The 2013 has Grouper lips for the grill!!! Really it does!

I'm still won by the '12's front end, c stripes, and hood. I don't care for the v6 looking front bumper or Shelby hood on the 13. Overall, I think the 12 looks more aggressive. I DO like the 13's wheels, and would swap them out (or take the laguna seca wheels) over the regular 12 Boss wheels.

Re: 2012 Boss or 2013 Boss (styling)

Front end/hood- 2012, the gt/boss bumper had sharper, more aggressive lines then the more rounded shelby. Plus without the center hood bulge it takes away even more styling points. Heat vents are never a bad thing though, but that's only credit I can give to the 13's front end.

Wheels- 2013 laguna seca/302s wheels. I think the regular rounded spoke boss wheels are pretty tame looking. I also like the old ls red wheels, but only the spokes should have been highlighted in red, not the rim itself. Was just too much.

Stripes- I would have said the hockey stick stripes in the past, but after all the 05-09 boss 302 "packages" running around the last few years, the C stripes have grown on me. Being reflective now sounds kinda cheesy. Gloss or glossy metallic stripes as opposed to the 12's flat stripes would have been pretty good looking though.

Rear- My least favorite part of any 05+. 10-13 looks so bloated from the back, but the new lights and new lower section just don't do it for me, at least not yet. I give the nod to 2012.

I gotta say this about both though. I know the boss 302 name is a big one, but times have changed. This day and age things are a bit different, I'm surprised they didn't call it the "boss 5.0" on the stripes. Would have been a modernization while still being a throwback. Guess Ford wanted the connection to be a direct one.

Stripes for 69/70 Boss and 69 Mach 1 were reflective, looks great at night.

Re: 2012 Boss or 2013 Boss (styling)

I'd definitely take the 2013 over the 2012 in the Boss. I prefer the more pissed off styling (to me). The new GT500 is sure promising to be an animal!
