upr "tin roof, rusted" lol

put these on last Nov 09 and look at the nice quality of these upr plates. guess i should have spent the extra 60 for some aluminum BBks or something. they said they would replace them , but didn't guarantee they wouldn't rust again. Ill just sand and paint them on the car. too much of a pain to replace them and get the car realigned.

You could replace the hex socket with stainless or other coated bolts but that defeats the original design purpose of the phosphate coating. If you buy aluminum plates you will suffer from torque impressions from multiple adjustments that dig in the aluminum and look terrible. I wonder if the design intention was for weekend car shows or maximum adjustment for different ride adjustments.
YEP...that is what I was thinking too.

Stainless does not rust, but it is not as strong as steel either.
I also would have gotten STEEDA plates.

I have steeda plates and no problem with rust on the actual plates. I do have rust on the screws same as in the picture though. All this humidity in Houston... I'll agree I see no rust on the actual plates, just the begining of rust on the screws.

Re: upr "tin roof, rusted" lol

Shouldn't have bought UPR junk. MM is really the only option for CC plates.

One cheap way to coat hardware BEFORE it rusts,
clear coat or clear nail polish.

Re: upr "tin roof, rusted" lol

i have the same cc plates and i usually paint all bare metal bolts before i put them on but for some reason i didnt with those. so my secret is i always spray armour all on the bolts or anything with silicone in it so they have never rusted and the plates have not shown any discoloration
