Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
I spent a couple hours last weekend making a shaker air diverter. I datalogged with my SCT X3 a couple days before, and after the diverter was installed. BIG difference in how fast the IATs come down with the diverter at slower speeds. Without the diverter 100* IAT would come down when moving at +55mph, after the diverter the temps would drop at cruising speeds of 35mph. Worked pretty well. I wouldn't say its a power producer, but it helped with high IATs.
Here it is in raw form After paint Installed |

Re: Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
Looks like alot thicker stuff than rich uses but it has almost no curve to it.

Re: Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
I'm unfamiliar with the concept... does this block all shaker air and force air to come from somewhere else?

Re: Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
After 1,800 post your serious? Hmm. If its like rich1's design instead letting air go all the way back the the rear of the shaker then turn around and go into the tube to the filter, it redirects the air forward as soon as it enters the shaker. Less space for it to traver and a smoother transision for the air. Thats not the best description ive heard but it gives you the idea.

Re: Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
Hey guys ... there is always more ways than one to make something. This is another way to help intake temps remain more stable. However, one off products are easy ...its just one. But the time and money spent to make many like i have is a challange to make it work and affordable .

Re: Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
What were the differences in IATs? like some before and after numbers?

Re: Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
I wouldn't say it lowers the number since it isn't making the incoming air temps colder. It brings the temps down alot faster at slower speeds.

Re: Pics of my custom shaker air diverter
Ford has said all along that the Shaker as per the factory trim was not effective below speeds of 80 mph. So it can not hurt .Just look at youre filter now and a month later to see the extra air flow( dirt ) on the filter.
