Coyote Intake Manifold on a 4.6 DOHC

Came across some adapter plates that MMR makes. They claim it allows you to run any of the Coyote intakes with 4.6 DOHC heads, and they sell another adapter plate to run a cable driven throttle body on the coyote intake.

With the impressive results I've seen from ported Boss 302 intakes, and CJ setups on the new coyotes, I'd like to see how they would do on a Mach 1. The CJ isn't realistic considering those guy shift at 7,800-8,000, but a Boss intake might be worth it, it sure would look cool!

Re: Coyote Intake Manifold on a 4.6 DOHC

The description says they work on 5.4s with 4v heads. Don't 5.4s have a wider gap than a 4.6 between the heads?

Maybe thats why the description says to port match? Or maybe you have to specify when ordering which heads you have. I'm not too sure.

Everything I've seen or heard about is they only work with 5.4s

It mentions any of those heads may be used. They aren't the problem. The wider 5.4 indeed is.

I know the 96-98 cobras have a specific intake/heads, but even including just 99/01 cobras and 03/04 machs, I am dumbfounded not a single company wants to make an intake and literally monopolize the market. Make a reasonably priced composite intake and it would be backordered at first.

My dreams are shattered. I was about to do a ported boss 302 intake on mine.

Re: Coyote Intake Manifold on a 4.6 DOHC

The 5.4 is wider than the 4.6 obviously, thus the problem.

they do but it doesn't work in the RPM range of a stock engine.

The first company to make a 2000 cobra R style intake to fit a 4.6 4v would likely sell a lot.
