Just think of all the ready buyers at MSRP or slightly higher that are pissed off now. Many are driving new Vettes as we have seen right here on the reg.

Maybe I'll get one for

Re: I THINK THE GT500 DEALER CRAZE is OVER

I believe the recent announcement of the retail version of the 350H coming out is taking some of the demand away from the GT 500. I've had a blower car before, and would much prefer the lower cost lighter weight NA aluminum block 4.6 version (VS iron block 5.4) with better fuel economy and no gas guzzler tax like the GT 500.

There may soon be a surplus of the (sorta) Shelby Mustangs.

Re: I THINK THE GT500 DEALER CRAZE is OVER

Hmmmm, well I don't think I will see one any where near MSRP out here. I guess when the craze is really over, I can fly to the mainland and get one, ship it out here and still be less money spent than I would pay out here.

I still think this Saleen Boss 302 is the best new mustang upgrade package. I know its a 3 valve NA but it just looks badazz.

Re: I THINK THE GT500 DEALER CRAZE is OVER

My understanding is that Ford has no interest in
the additional engineering and machine work ( co$t) required
to "wet sump" the Ford GT aluminum 5.4 block.
I wish, but it's doubtful.

So give it to us as a dry sump. That just means more power, nothing wrong with that.

Except the oil pump (external) sits where the AC compressor would be.

Hey, Ralph - do you think that 5.4 block, even in aluminum, might shift the weight distribution too much forward as compared to a 5.0L engine?

We know one of the advantages of the new generally heavier 05/06/07 Mustangs is their improved F/R weight distribution....wheels moved forward etc. I believe that is one reason they drag race well with slightly less power and more weight than our Mach's.

But wasn't 2000R an all aluminum 5.4 (having a brain fart), and don't remember complaints about weight.

I would settle for 4.6 4V with latest VVT stuff, better intake (s), and 6 speed mauual in new model. Maybe with some of the parts from 5.0.

The 00"R" had a cast iron (Navigator) Block.

Yep, it definitely is improved - 54/46 for the GT according to what I've read. That distribution, while improved, is still off from 50/50. That's why I was wondering if the slight weight increase of a taller deck engine would mater.

The 2000 R had an iron block V8. Even though people did not talk much about weight, I thought it was pretty husky at 3600 lbs. The fact it had no A/C, sound deadner, and back seat was what many people looked at and probably thought "light weight racer". That engine was heavy, just not as heavy as one with a supercharger and its plumbing.

Re: I THINK THE GT500 DEALER CRAZE is OVER

If Ford were to offer our basic engine with V V T, 6 speed manual, and other HP improvements that have come along since our cars were developed, I imagine I would be selling my Mach. Special models hold their value better than mass produced Mustang GT's.

And....would prefer Shelby's name not be on it.

Re: I THINK THE GT500 DEALER CRAZE is OVER

I would imagine an US spec Aussie Boss 290 ( N.A. 5.4 32V, nearly 400/400)
would go nicely into the 05 and up Mustang body style.

Re: I THINK THE GT500 DEALER CRAZE is OVER

I dont think the hype is over. I just called my local dealer today and he told me all the other dealers are selling for 75k+. And they are willin to go 70K. He told me its based on what EBAY! is telling everyone what the price is at. I just laughed and hung up. What a fool
