Do you buy 'ugly' tires? I need some help.

I dont care if a tire is the best in the world, if its ugly, I dont want it on the car.

I love the looks of the G force KDW2 but only one store locally says they can get them, at the cost of $200 each for 245s. I can get Nittos for around $130.

If I DD the car it wouldnt be that big a deal but I dont. Im on the original tires and being that old, they are starting to make me nervous about being dry rotten.

The Nittos are ok looks wise but dont really give me the warm fuzzy feeling like the G force.

I dont like the tires that look like diagonal lines.

I only drive like 3k miles a year if that many. Suggestions on something aggressive/mean looking?

What size? Which Nitto's are you looking at? So you want something that "looks good?" Most people that say that refer to a directional tread design. Need a little for info to make suggestions.

Re: Do you buy 'ugly' tires? I need some help.

I was looking at the 555s.

As far as size, would like to go 255s in the front and 275s in the rear. But dont want it to bulge in the back, 255s all the way around would be ok. Not sure about the 40 or 45, I think if you go 40 instead of 45 it will keep your speedo correct.

Re: Do you buy 'ugly' tires? I need some help.

I had nitto 555s on my Lightning when I had it and was not happy with them, they didnt hook for **** and didnt wear well either in my experience for whatever its worth.

and personally Id say the KDW 2s are the ugly tires lol

why not just order em through tire rack or something and have someone local mount and balance

I'm a big fan of my Vredesteins, especially since it is rare to find another car that has them.

Re: Do you buy 'ugly' tires? I need some help.

I have the Nitto 555 extreme performance in 275's all 4 corners. I can't determine yet if I like them since it is the first time putting 275 up front, so I have some drifting going on (may be me), with the P1, will ANY tire on the street TRULY "hook up"??, plus trying to still figure out optimal air pressure. Overall I like them and seem to do ok if I happen to get caught in a unexpected rain pour, and they aren't ugly.

Just don't commit a crime and make the get-a-way in your Mach. We will all know it was you when they show it on one of those TV crime shows (LOL).

You might want to look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE-760's. I've had them on my car for several years and have been quite happy with them. They are fairly cost effective and have a nice look as well..

$60 to ship and $80 to mount, which puts me $740, still over $200 more than the Nittos.

Friend of mine has the Nittos on a 95 GT, he loves em. I just dont like the way they look. They arent ugly, just doesnt appeal to me.

Of course, I have the gatorbacks so almost anything is better looking than they are.

How do the RE60s do in the rain? I m not scared to drive in the rain but the Gatorbacks to me are down right scarey.

What size are your wheels? In my opinion, most performance tires look pretty cool haha. I have Nitto Invos and they have been an all around great tire.

I haven't thought about that. I guess full slicks would be the best option since they wouldn't leave a tread pattern behind lol.

RE760's are pretty good in the rain. They're also reasonably priced.

From Tirerack.com ,245/45ZR17's are $126 each and 275/40ZR17's are $142 each.

I just put new tires on today. I would have bought the RE760's again but I got a better deal on a set of BFG GForce Sport Comp 2's that I couldn't pass up. $562 mounted and balanced, and a $50 rebate on top of that!
