Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
Has anyone put a super chip in, and does that help?
Or can the stock chip be tuned in by the Dyno technicians? |

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
I dyno'd 278/300 with slp catted xpipe and a k&n filter. I would like to be at 300/325ish. I have a mac catback on the way (bought it more for sound then pwoer although its nice to have 2.5" piping all the way back) and i was planning on a php spacer, a good maf/cai combo and a tune.

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
Wanted to let everyone know, I changed the water pump pulley on my mach to a motoblue underdriven pulley. I put a diablo programer on it just to watch the engine temp. At 6000 grand the temp was 193 with the underdriven pulley compared to 188 with the factory water pump pulley. Due to the car running hotter with the underdrive pulley the computer pulled timing. End result 293.7 hp at the wheels with the aftermarket pulley and 299.8 hp with the stock pulley. These cars are really finicky. paul

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
Joining the 300hp club. After all these parts installed and Sct Xcalibrator2 flashed I have 306.09 hp and 322.07 the a/f ratio 13.43 to 13.24 on a Winpep DynoJet. My parts Kooks 1 5/8 x 2 1/2 headers, Kooks catted x-pipe, Php intake spacer, JLT RAI intake and flash tuned. Did I do ok or am I missing something?

That does not surprise me. I hear at 190 deg. the computer starts to pull timing. Set your fans to come on earlier and pour in a bottle of Red Line Water Wetter should help out.

steeda's claim is hard to believe
but I would not be surprsied to see a mach 1 make those numbers, but extremely rare. its all in the tune |

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
I started a tread about dyno machines to get some answers on the topic of high dyno readings. My tec works at ford svt and does my tuning and dyno setup. He told me that there are dynos that operate differently and the preloaded drum of the dynotec dynos give you a truer reading. The unloaded brands give higher readings of rwhp and torque due to the nonexistance of pushing a load.

Sounds about 30 hp too much. I'd say that you are around 280-285, maybe.

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
Just had my 04 5 speed dyno tested at Murillo's yesterday at a club Dyno day. I have 38k on it, a K&N drop in, and magnaflow mufflers only. 304 HP, 319 Tq. Weather was great, 65 and dry. Mike has a Mustang Dyno.

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
I've been researching the hell out of this site and see a lot of different things people have done to their beasts...
Based on what I've got ordered (see sig), the oh so glorious I'm pretty much sticking with bolt-ons for now. MAYBE down the road I'll give it a power-adder, but in reality I don't forsee a real reason for me to do so. It saddens me to even consider doing anything that would render the shaker useless. But I'd like to avoid things such as changing out pulleys based on the negative things I've read about.

Re: What to do to get 300 rwhp on a Mach 1
300 hp at the wheels is very easy to get with bolt ons. I would do a catback and catted X pipe or H with a hand held tuner and do the C&L cold air to many issues with KN's cold air kits. Also add the mezrie electric water pump will free up some hp too.
