Hey...nice to see another classic owner here.

There are quite a bit if you look around......especially some listed on EBAY with TX being the selling point.

I know you specified 5 speed and I don't blame you. I have always owned 5 speeds until I bought my 04 Comp Orange Mach 1. It is an auto, but it is an absolute blast to drive. I live in Pasadena, very close to Houston. Here are the mods:

Mods:
4000 PI converter
Manual valve body (You still have to shift it)
Transbrake
4:10 gears
Nittos
Magnaflow X-Pipe (catted)
Magnaflow Cat-Back
Intake spacer
Meziere Electric Water Pump
Custom Chip
Shift Light Mounted in AC vent

i just dont trust any automatic except a c4 or a c6. I sometimes drive sorta rough on weekends when its awesome out and I dont want any repair bills coming from an automatic as those are crazy expensive to fix.

Re: WTB: Mach 1 (der) in/near Texas or Kentucky

The auto in the Mach1 can handle min. 600hp. It's not the same tranny they put in the GT and it would actually be more reliable than the grinding 5spd tranny that ford put in it.

I think that is more opinion than fact.

And I am no auto expert, but I have a hard time believing it will handle 600 PLUS TQ.

Re: WTB: Mach 1 (der) in/near Texas or Kentucky

First, I am a 65 coupe owner....welcome to the herd!

Next, I don't think the cast crank of the auto Mach engine will handle 600 HP or even 500 TQ. But in milder Machs it is a great tranny to race with, and reliable, too. Put in a torque converter and valve body and you are off to very low 13s for an auto Mach! MachYoung on this site has an auto Mach and it is a BEAST on the track, in the low 12s! So don't count out the autos! If you are looking for a Mach that MAY be a collector Mach, Ford only had 2 "upgrade" type options - the IUP (interior upgrade package) and the auto trans. Auto Machs are much more rare than standard trans Machs. Something to keep in mind.
