About to buy 28 spline mosers...

I just purchased 4.30 ford racing gears that are on their way and I am going with 28 spline moser axles. What else do I need to get this install done?

http://www.lightningforceperformance...les-p-813.html

and are those the correct axles?

Re: About to buy 28 spline mosers...

From what I've read, I feel like the 28 spline mosers will hold up fine for what I want to do with my car and it saves me a couple hundred bucks.

I've heard something about c clips and abs sensors...could I just use the stock ones?

Bad decision. Do it right the first time. It's not worth saving a couple hundred bucks with the 28 spline.

i agree if your gonna do it do it right, if the price of a 31 spline diff is holdin you back then wait till you can afford one. cause ill tell you whats gonna happen youll do the 430s and 28splines, bust the mickey mouse, playschool stock diff and then buy a 31 spline diff and have to rebuy axles for 250 bux

Also I picked up a 31 spline FRPP 03/04 Cobra diff(the one with carbon fiber clutches) for $290 bucks. Since you dont plan on making alot of power you can get the FRPP regular limited slip diff(- the carbon fiber clutch pack) for $220 bucks. Its just as good as an eaton unit and is far cheaper.

If you're just buying the diff rebuild kit for the clutches, the FRPP Carbon kit you mentioned is only $130-150. I got mine plus oil for $150 after burning my diff up. I'm gonna run the stock crap save for the clutches untill I have enough for a 31 rebuild and/or I break something that isnt an easy repair job, ie axles.

Re: About to buy 28 spline mosers...

Well I upgraded to 31 spline so thats why i didnt do a rebuild kit. Im just telling him cuz its a waste of money to buy new 28 spline axles and "hope" that you arent gonna break them. Cuz if and when you do the money that you spent on them is wasted and it would have ended up being cheaper in the long run to have just went from the stockers to a 31 spline setup to begin with....

Re: About to buy 28 spline mosers...

ok you guys sold me on the 31 spline....so I am looking to buy an oem cobra one and 31 spline mosers. Is the cobra diff good enough? So I need 75w140 oil, motive bearing kit(my car has only 21k on it), anything else?

So RP with friction modifier in it is ok right?

Do you guys think I should purchase a different diff?

Re: About to buy 28 spline mosers...

The cobra diff is an excellent diff that can handle alot of power and you cant beat the price for what it is.

I just put those links up for reference.

I'm assuming the cobra diff with the carbon fiber clutch plates is better?

That diff doesnt have the carbon fiber clutches. The diff minus the carbon fiber was only 225. The carbon fiber is more.

everyone recommends different brands....i went with the strange axles myself cuz i heard they were better than the moser axles, but people have said vice versa too. I dont know the reputation of the FRPP axles, but most FRPP products are high quality and a safe bet...

so do I need the install kit with the bearings or without the bearings? The price difference between the 2 is about 40 bucks for the motive.

Spend the extra couple of bucks (insurance) and go with the 31 spline axles. You will need to make sure that you order the sleeves for the ABS exciter rings also. The axles are NORMALLY shipped without them. Make sure you get them or you will be waiting for them to ship them to you. The sleeves are only a couple bucks more. MIGHT want to see if Moser can install the sleeves for you prior to shipment.
