different antenna

Anyone know how or where to get a matte black antenna? I don't much like the factory one that comes with the Mach.

Thanks

I got one at Pep Boys, I popped the ball off the end, cut the length to about even with the roof line and pressed the ball back on.

Click here for a picture showing the Mach with the antenna mounted.

I ordered an 8" satin black antenna which retains excellent reception from SSINSERTS.com. A little pricy($30), but the black is a perfect match.

Here's the link; the antenna is the item third from the bottom:

Here's a pic of my Azure Blue with the shorter 8" antenna. The sun's reflection makes it appear to be lighter, but it is definitely a matte black or satin black. In other words, flat black. Notice that it is a full 23" shorter. The stock antenna is actually 31" tall.

Find a salvage yard and grab one off a late model Mustang there. The silver "edition" is new for 2003 to save money on paint. Some 2003 cars have black, some have silver.

I actually like the silver on my black Mach, but on any other color I'd dislike it greatly.

I cut my antenna to 13.5" reinstalled the ball, and painted it satin black. Looks the balls!

Thank you every one for your input. I can't believe that my antenna has rust on it already. But with this info, I can change it.

I've been thinking about having mine shaved, you, have a smooth, uninturrupted surface on both sides. It's not like I ever listen to the radio.

Anyone tried this?

I've got a Trenz billet antenna off my Ranger. It's just a polished aluminum finish, but I'd like to paint it black to put on the Mach. Will paint stick to the slick aluminum finish or will it just flake off? Is there any type of prep that may help the paint adhere?

If it were me I'd rub it a few times with some 400 grit sandpaper before painting.

I would try to findsome kind of paint thats a little flexible..i think regular paint will crack and flake off over time as it whips around in the wind
