credit report?

So I've been looking for a way to figure out what my credit score is and I thought there was a way to do it for free now. It seems everything I find asks for all your info...then after you get it all verified it wants my credit card number to charge me. I just want my credit rating to see where I stand....anyone know where to get it?

Re: credit report?

I think by federal law you can get one report per year free from each of the three major credit reporting agencies, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.

www.experian.com

www.equifax.com

www.transunion.com

Re: credit report?

Also, I think your banks can do it too, not sure if they charge, I know our local credit union does it for Free for being a member. I know the Car dealers run one when buying a car, we found out ours a few years back and blew the dealers away with our good standing, actually my wife's was 2 points higher than mine.

That's how they get ya... Reoccurring memberships...

You can get your report free like pointed out below, but you don't get your score, you have to pay for that.

According to this you get your credit report and free Experian credit score. Never used it, so I cannot vouch.

Yeah, but then they start charging you for a monthly service, it's a pain in the *** to cancel with them. The link I posted above is the official site, posted by the government for the free annual report.

I think it hurts your credit if you keep getting reports

No you can get your report every month if you want it isn't part of your score or report at all. I think what you're thinking of probably is inquires or in other words applying for credit, which can have an effect on your score. You don't want to apply too often for credit.

Re: credit report?

By law, you are entitled to one free credit report a year from one of the three credit reporting agencies, but the report does not include your credit score, just your credit/payment history. To get your actual score, you're going to have to pay for it.

Re: credit report?

fiveliter you beat me to it. The score is the service that the company provides. The history is your information and is what you are legally entitled to. There is no such thing as a free credit report. Another interesting thing is that not all financials use the same model. Some assign different weights to different things. Each financial tells the bureaus how they want the score calculated. A lot just use the basic model called the Fair Issac aka FICO score. Depending on where you live will dictate which score is more accurate and what your creditor will use. Experian=west coast transunion=midwest and equifax=east coast. Car dealers typically use the auto enhanced score which weighs car payment history higher and explains why you can get different scores from different menus.

Just ran mine through annualcreditreport.com They gave me a 15 page report listing all reporting creditors free. But if you want your actual score its $5.95. At that point I just said and paid for it. Shocked, they gave me a 945 score. I guess I can go buy that personal jet I've always needed.

No but that does mean you can finance it. I've used that site and got a 900+ score the problem is no one uses that system. The one that's commonly used has a max ratting of 860.

I know, its what the three agencies are calling the "Vantage" report, 501-990.
My regular system score was 849. So what do you think, Gulfstream, Citation, Westwind or a Lear...do they still make those? Then again I always liked WWII warbirds. Maybe rebuild a F4-U Corsair or a P51 Stang
