Which way to go with my 67 Fastback????
Well, I can't fully decide which way I want to go with my 67....I've really narrowed it down to an Eleanor or a Shelby GT500 Clone. I'm interested to see what you guys have to say. Here's a couple of pics.

Bring her back to stock look but with a 5.0, 5 speeds, disc brake at 4 corners
and drive it! Best of both world to me: Classic look with today potent power and quite good milage on top of it.

Re: Which way to go with my 67 Fastback????
Between the two choices, I'd say it's a coin toss.
IMO, Eleanor has been done to death. Maybe they still have appeal to some people, but when I see one at a show, I barely look anymore. But, if you can do something to make it different than the others, it could be cool. A Shelby clone could be good. But I know a couple people with clones, and you'll have to deal with some elitists/purists bashing it because it's not real. It really depends on what you want. As long as you do a quality job, people will notice.

Re: Which way to go with my 67 Fastback????
I say original with some resto-mods. Or go with the GT 500 "Tribute" car. (Clone has a bad connotation.)
The real Eleanor is a yellow 1973 Mustang. Yes, there is an original Gone In Sixty Seconds before Nicolas Cage did the remake. A 90 minute car chase = greatness. And the '67 Eleanor has been beaten to death. It looks cool but how long ago has the movie remake been out now?... |

Re: Which way to go with my 67 Fastback????
Here's some examples of the ways I'm thinking of going....
1. Original Nightmist Blue 2. Eleanor GT500E 3. Shelby GT500 Clone

Re: Which way to go with my 67 Fastback????
You're not gonna go wrong with whatever you decide.
The black on metalic grey looks great but calling it an Eleanor seems too cliche now. (do y'all think Ford will ever come out with an Eleanor edition Mustang like the Bullitt?) IMO the deep blue is the best. Put some pics on the wall and throw darts. My perception also is going from pic-1 to pic-2 to pic-3 is it looks like the cost might go up up up. |

from the 3 pictures a resto mod version of #1 would be awesome. I would add 2 white stripes to that and call it a day

Re: Which way to go with my 67 Fastback????
So many different ways to go with a 67 Mustang.....so very odd to actually be able to find one now at an affordable price. I always thought that I would want an Eleanor but maybe in your area they might be more common....in Kingston it would be a big WOW. Wonder what it would cost to take everything (motor, interior, suspension......) from a new shelby and go that route....always thought it would be neat to take a old mach and put all the new stuff in it.

I voted for original and nightmist blue. I'm into classic looks with performance upgrades....oh yeah, and I like blue!

Re: Which way to go with my 67 Fastback????
I vote original on apprearance. I love that Nightmist blue color...almost changed my '67 'vert to that color.
Keep it stock looking with hidden performance mods. I think the '67 is the best looking of the Mustang generations...close to the original in size, but more muscular in appearance.
