On the 3650 they wrote that the shift quality was improved. We'll see.

2005 Mustang

I have no intention of giving up my 5.0 or mach, but I had to get a towel to get the drool out of my keyboard....I Love the new
stang. Another homerun for Ford. A new Shelby would be just right for my growing collection!!

The more I see the 2005 the more I want one.

300 HP? Good god. I can only imagine what the Mach1/Shelby/Boss and Cobra are going to be like.

All I have to say is I got 16 months left to pay off the 2001 and I'm getting one. No questions asked.

Re: Images & specs for '05 GT & V6 + C6 vette

Yep, I do like the new Mustang and look forward to seeing one up close. For now, I will keep the Mach 1 but that might change in 06 depending on the Cobra or other "special" versions such as the Shelby.

As far as the C6, great performance right up there with the current Z06. Having had a C5, I really don't like the front end of the C6. The pop up headlights have been on Corvettes since 1963. The car just doesn't scream Corvette from the front and the headlight assemblies look cheap. Appears to be a "enhanced" C5 more than an all new 6th generation of the Corvette.

One thing that I do like is the retro look front end of the C6, like a Mako Shark II. I'm not too enthused about the rear styling, not enough of a change. The interior is a definite improvement, and that has always been a weak point of the C4, and C5. As far as the new Mustang, the Halibrand style wheel option is a definite:THUMBSUP: , the front end treatment is not only near perfect, but lends itself well to future upgrades (scoops, vents, shakers, etc.). Although the side styling is not a strong point the quarter glass treatment alone will bring older Mustang owners and enthusiasts to the showrooms, and the interior looks to be step up although the upgraded interior is the only one getting any press, it'll be interesting to see what the standard interior will look like without all the aluminum trim and other appiontment upgrades.

HATE the new Vette

Well, I'm biased because I never have liked vettes but I think this one looks like a cross between a viper and a 3000gt.
17000+ for what? 90 horse and 2 less seats? I don't think so. Thank you Ford. I wont be gettin one of those 05s as I don't have the finances to do so, but I must say I don't like them as well as the concept. Wheels REALLY make a difference, I LOVED the slatted hood the concept had and I hate our style tail lights on it. Didn't mind the Shelby style on the concept, though I wasn't in love with them either. My .02

my thoughts on the C6: I only see two things I like on this car... the interior and the rims... its nice to see that they got away from the "Star Trek by Fisher Price" theme and went with something more upscale... and the gauges are gonna look cool in blue, IMO... its also notable that they fixed the trunk are that holds the targa top... on the C4, it was almost flush up top, like the C6... in the C5, you lost most of your trunk when you took off the targa top... kudos for the improvement there... I just dont like that front end... the lights, if they were not round, would be tolerable, but as they stand, they're just too import looking to me... that's just my two cents, though...

on the next Mustang: after a few years to work out any bugs, this will probably be my next *new* car... GM continues to alienate those of us who are purists to certain car lines/names... it seems that only Ford has kept the dream alive, so to speak, and brought back a resurrected a classic line from the past... put those V6 rims on the GT, take off the badges and you've got yourself a sleeper... my kinda car... to Ford for getting this one right...

Raising the Bar

I'm not a Corvette fan - it's a very sexy shape - and the power is there - but - $17k more? And more - a lot more - for insurance - and depreciation...Nah - I think I'll stay with the Pony. This one looks good. I'm liking the interior more - gotta see it in person.
Longer wheelbase looks good - should ride better - Bring on the Mach/Shelby/Boss!

Great job by Ford, looks incredible. Pontiac should learn a lesson from Fords' retro designers....The 05 Mustang certainly does not look like a telephone company fleet car....as the new GTO does

as a former turd owner, I'll hold off first 2 years, in case they got the exploding intake standard or overheating problems or whatever... but that engine looks like it's setup for some nice ram air... prolly much more effective than the shaker.

I really like the looks of the C6. Seems that it has a little RX8 in it. I like the looks of the new mustang too. Love the interior, too bad its not going to be that nice. The price would be too high if it was going to be like the picture. I think it will be cheapened a bunch. JMHO

V-6 rims?

Is it me, or do the V-6 rims look very similar to the Team III rims?

They brought back the old lazy puke green color? I know I'm crazy but I love that color for some reason. I would have loved to see a Mach 1 in that color. I would have been all over it, escpecially with the flat black striping. The 05 is growing on me. I'm still glad I got the Mach 1, but I want to see an 05 in person before I decide on whether or not I should kick myself. Anyone see the new AC Cobra concept? I saw some pics on another board... not as cool as the Ford GT, but looking good.

For some reason the 05 looks a bit awkward to me. I think it is the extra booty hanging off the backend. Trim the rear quarter panel by 6" or 8" and it would look much better. The concept was much more appealing to me. JMO.

for me, the '05 body style just reminds me of two of my favorite cars: the '66 GT350 and '67 GT500... this design is so close to those in appearance that it really excites me... I'm looking forward to seeing those lines on the road soon...
