Custom Turbo Setup Newbie?! - 2003-04 Mach 1 Registry Owners Club

I have been bouncing around the idea of head and cam work, to a supercharger, but I think I have decided I would like to go to a turbo system. Just because I like to punish myself, I was thinking about making my own system and setup. I would like to achieve about 400hp on a low boost setting, and about 500hp on a higher boost setting... The low boost would be for daily driving. Most of the setups I see on here, are more powerful than I would like to be. So I am trying to get some feedback on what you guys think!

What components should I be looking for? Will I need to upgrade my fuel system at all? What size turbo, and what brands work well with the mod motors? Also, I would like to stick with the stock motor.

Hopefully this is specific enough!

What motor do you have.. Punish your self boy you got that right, However when its all said and done its awesum. Soon as you get the power you want you will probably want more. Foir that HP you will not have to upgrade fuel system except for bigger injectors. The stock mach motor bottom end will handle 8psi boost pretty well. If only wanting 4-500 hp go with a single turbo 66-70mm should be just fine. If you do head work you car likes that and if upgrad cams make sure you get a 10mm camsprocket bolt, costly if it snaps, I broke two at different time. You need to ask youself how much money you want to invest, then how much your gonna invest later as you go. Ask as many questions to the people on this site will save you money in the long run.. i would say you will need to go ahead and up grade your fuel injectors, MAF, and fuel pump. from what i understand a good max safe hp to push is 450rwhp and your fine. but just take it as each car has there limit and all cars are different. what i'm sayin my mach may handle 450rwhp and another mach maynot be able to handle that. also how the car is driven in its past life. you will also need a tuner and dyno and tuned and spark plugs

What brand turbos are good? I've heard of turbonetics, and Garret... Are these good quality?

Precision, Borg Warner also known as Airwerks, Turbonetics, and Masterpower are all awesome. Ive got a Turbonetics TC78 on mine and it definately does the job

I would'nt punish myself that much for just 400-500 HP.

Ive heard of Masterpower as well, what about Garrett turbos, anyone heard of that brand of turbo?
