If it dynoed at 395 rwhp stock, that's 464 hp. You mean they can't get 36 more horses out of it with the stock block?

No sh!t they aren't pushing 52lbs on a stock block. The point was the computer controlled camshaft timing allows for boost with a reduced chance of detonation.

Those #s on the dyno are on a pre- production press car.The above post is talking about a racing engine so who knows . Lets see more results and see what WE get. I still say this motor is at or near its limit on a stock block. I may be wrong.

Really? Wasnt that the guy who had alot of problems with his Throttle Bodies until people quit buying them ,then he found the problem.

Any smart owner of a new GT will convert to E85 right away and put a Centri Blower on and run 10's all day, probably at no more than 10psi.
While others are all nervous about going kaboom and building engines, that guy who didnt take the cam covers off is gonna be handing you your *** and laughing about it. Dont all LSx series engines have Forged Powdered Metal rods? |

"The LS1 and LS6 use the same powdered-metal, cracked-cap rod, which uses a pressed-in piston pin. All of the Gen III V-8 factory rods are 6.096 inches in length and use 8-mm rod bolts. There are a few versions of factory rod bolts that feature improvements that GM engineers have made over the years. Essentially, avoid the ’97-’98 rod bolts, but the bolts used from ’99 and beyond have been known to handle over 450 hp without issue. ARP and a few other fastener manufacturers make good replacement bolts for the stock rods and they’re good insurance — so it’s recommended that you install aftermarket rod bolts no matter what power you’re going to make."

I mean seriously guys....blowers are already being tested on these things. does that mean you should be able to slap on 8-10 #'s immediately...I personally wouldn't..but who knows until more mod/tuning time is thrown at them.

I think the new 5.0 could run 5-6 psi - even with the 11:1 pistons - as long as tuning is conservative. Heck, we've got plenty of guys running twice as much boost safely with 4.6L 3V's that have connecting rods the size of toothbrushes!

Oil spray directed to the bottom of the piston thus cooling it. Pretty simple and yet brilliant.

I can definitely tell who does their homework, and who doesnt on the intrawebs.
Anyhow, I have fiddled with these engines a little. They are quite impressive. My results/findings were not as impressive as that thread, but still nice.
