mgw, well i gave it a shot
had bought an mgw shifter from a member here a few years back, put it on and i had taken it off within a week cause it was sooo stiff. well i figured id try it again and really give it some more time to loosen up, didnt last 2 weeks. its way to hard to put in gear, reverse sometime is nearly imposible to get in. cars not fun to drive at all. put the stock shifter back on.
now i still want a short shifter, witch one would be as smooth and easy to shift as stock?

You could try a pro 5.0 with your stock handel.

Just get used to the mgw! On a serious note I drove a car with a triax and it was real easy to shift

I have a steeda tri ax and it doesn't feel much different than stock, just shorter. I was wanting a mgw though.

I have a MGW and i have no problem shifting. The harder you put it in gear the easier it is to drive though.

Re: mgw, well i gave it a shot
Ive always found it hard to get into reverse when warm. My trick is to put it in second then reverse.

Re: mgw, well i gave it a shot
I've had the MGW shifter for 7 years now and I love it. Just so much better than stock. It's a little notchy at first, but it does loosen up eventually, just not in two weeks. Mine shifts like butter. Only shifting the trans into reverse takes a little muscle. You just gotta give it some time.

Re: mgw, well i gave it a shot
Pro 5.0 Shifter with the Mach Ball on it works great (though the ball does get hot as heck). Never misses a shift, it's the best shifter I've ever used in any mustang. But, it is the only one I've used other than stock so not much to go off of.
It was between the Steeda Tri-ax or the Pro 5.0 and one day on ebay a brand new Pro 5.0 came up for dirt cheap so I grabbed it. You have to use the stock shifter's ball joint but other than that you can pretty much stick any top on it and it is adjustable (stops, height etc) so it works great. If I remember right the Pro 5.0 and the Steeda Tri-ax was the same price (or close) so that's why it was between those two. Good luck.

Re: mgw, well i gave it a shot
Have you tried calling MGW? Maybe you have a bad shifter. They have GREAT customer service and really strive to please. Might be worth a call to ask them about it and see if they have any suggestions or if that reallly is just the way it is.
I had an MGW on my 3650 and now on my T56 - I love it.

Re: mgw, well i gave it a shot
On the stock tranny, the best combo I've seen was the pro 5.0 with the steeda triax handle or the MGW handle. Perfect length and really smooth...
I now have a T56 with the MGW and it is stiffer (i have the orange handle) but I kinda dig the adjustability. I would like to get my hands on one of the older longer handles they had... My tranny needs the TOB guide tube replaced, which kinda puts a damper on my shifting abilities, but that's a whole 'nother story.

Re: mgw, well i gave it a shot
The stock pro5.0 handle is horrible btw, waaaay too short and stubby. Triax handle or mgw handle is where its at
